Mr. Freeman vs. Dr. Freeman

It’s probably a detail which is totally unimportant, but I have noticed, that Black Mesa personnel (especially guards) often say Mr. Freeman, instead to address him as Dr. Freeman.

I may be wrong, but shouldn’t you use Dr. instead of Mr. , if the person has a doctoral degree?

I have noticed this before, but the funny thing is, they still refer to other scientists as Dr.

Maybe they just don’t like freeman :meh:

Just something else to call somebody I suppose.

Dr. Freeman.
Mr. Freeman.
Gordon Freeman.
Gordon.
G.
Nig Nog.
Home Slice.

Or just Gordan ofc!!!

Gordon is a low-level research associate so, while he maintains the title of “doctor”, many probably don’t recognize him as such. I know some call him a “highly trained professional”, but others probably don’t see that…

At least, that’s how I see it.

A little interesting tidbit about this, remember in the beginning of Half-Life 2, the G-man says “Rise and shine Mister Freeman”. In Episode 2, he starts a conversation off with “Doctor Freeman”.

I swear to God I’ll burn you alive.

:fffuuu:

True, I never noticed that, wow the people on this forum are so pedantic.

Not that that is a bad thing.

Correct. In HL2 he retains the title of Mr in the Gman speech, but this is altered at the end of the game when he becomes the heroic Dr Freeman to the rebels. Is this a sign that Gman uses phrases from others to form his language?

His different referrals of Gordon are probably trivial, but very much notable. Also like whether he’s carrying his briefcase or not.

Remember these Rebel just keep calling him “Let me get out your way, Doctor Freeman.”
Alyx call him “Gordon”
Eli call him “Gordon”
hmm…

and?

It’s Eric Fong, don’t expect a coherent post.

To tell you the truth, I expected an epic battle between Gordon in his scientist suit, and Gordon in his HEV suit. Damn you, Megatron.

Clearly this thread is a zombified this:

When I clicked on this thread, I expected to see the trailer for Invictus with Half-Life dialogue slapped on top.

“So wake up, Doctor Freeman. Wake up and - smell the ashes.”

No, it’s wake up MISTER Freeman. Learn to quote.

FIRST LINES
Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Rise and shine. Not that I wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job. No-one is more deserving of a rest. And all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until… well, let’s just say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So, wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and smell the ashes.

FROZEN TIME AT THE END OF THE GAME
Time, Dr. Freeman? Is it really that time again? It seems as if you only just arrived. You’ve done a great deal in a small time span. You’ve done so well, in fact, that I’ve received some interesting offers for your services.

Yeah, maybe when gman think Mister first then he say Mister, when he think Doctor then he say doctor.
