Mafia II

This is one of those games my dad thinks is really cool, and he’ll actually ask me if he can watch.

Yes. That’s one thing I fucking hate.

Love every other aspect.

Definite buy for me when it comes out.

He probably wants to see if he can see himself walking on the streets.

Poor guy, he’s probably just worried that we won’t buy the full game because we can play it as long as we want. But for real though, like you said, it’s just a tiny section of the city, so what differance does it make by using them hacks? :stuck_out_tongue:

“Elizabeth.” That explains alot.

On an unrelated note… Why the fuck do the sandwiches look so good?
I mean technically they can’t be more than about 10 polys, but that fucking texture…
Food in games isn’t supposed to look appetizing.

Just what sandwich are you speaking of?

The ones you eat for health. You can find them in the fridge in your house.

There’s also one on the table behind you when you’re done with the MG42.

I see ham, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and what could be wheat bread or something.

Imma go to the store and make me a Mafia II sandwich.

Description mentions cheese.

I love the Mafia II demo. As a huge fan of the first, I was really worried that all the detail and realism would be dumbed down, as is the case with many of the older hardcore PC games whose sequels go to consoles. But just about everything is still there, and then some.

If you rob a store, there will be crime scene tape there later, tires deform realistically due to weight transfer of the car, you can fill up for gas, wash your car, tune your car, the damage looks great, shooting is fun, etc. I didn’t even notice the few removed features such as melee weapons and in-car shooting. Of course I’m using simulation driving physics, which feel great, although the input seems to be a little on the sluggish side.

I also got a good laugh from the “demo timer hacks are stealing our game” comment. The irony is that, after I got the demo timer hack and was able to take my time exploring the small details, THAT’s when I was sold on the game. So actually, turning the timer off will probably help the demo sell more copies of the full game.

One thing I don’t like about Mafia II is that you can’t go into the water, because of the invisible wall. I know, it’s not a big deal, but it break the immersion. I would rather go into the water and see Vito drown just like it was in the first Mafia. And I also don’t like the fact that you can’t jump or climb anywhere you want. I just hate being limited.

italians cant swim

You can’t walk into the water, but you can drive into it just fine. :stuck_out_tongue:
This might be changed in the full version, I’m wondering if it was to help limit the demo to the one area and prevent respawn exploiting.

Also, spacebar climbs (most) things.

That explains Tommy Vercetti.

I <3 bots.

love it. bscly

Heh same here, my dad’s a sucker for those old cars.

The cops are cool, but racist as hell.

A taxi cab ran into my car so I turned and fired a few shots off at it with my 45. Two cops heard the gunfire from nearby, and drove over towards me. I decided to bribe them, and just stood there and waited for them. They didn’t go to me. They walked by me and arrested a black guy who hadn’t done anything. He cooperated for a bit, but he was faking them out. He took off, only to be shot in the back of the head by one of the cops.

This game’s demo was so amazing. I can’t wait until the release.
