Indeed, it basically rapes the infected :3
It’s not…
it looks like a mipmap… so I guess someone screwed up with configuring the texture file or something.
I guess your game detail is set to low?
Just found out about the cover art issue in England. I must say I find it hilarious.
You’re kidding right? I have everything maxed out. The fact that you call this a texture further proves my other problem: half the in-game textures look fuzzy and just plain flat.
I don’t know what’s wrong with my game, but it simply won’t work right. Retarded FPS drops after every map change, this weird texture issue that’s just plain annoying, severe lag when the demo worked fine and it appears half the textures aren’t even maxed out correctly, validating the game brings up 2 broken files that NEVER FIX…
I love the game, I just can’t play the thing.
I’m waiting patiently for my support ticket to be replied to, I hope all this junk gets fixed within the month or I’m going to be really upset.
Delete and re-download.
What’s your graphics card?
Crap.
Oh, wait, you want the technical name. Hold on.
rummages through control panel
ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2
Make sure you get that info to valve otherwise they can’t really help you. I expect they’ll patch the game in the next couple of days for the more serious issues like yours.
I sent them a support ticket with 3 things:
- A detailed description of all the issues I’m having
- That exact picture of the Dark Carnival poster
- A complete copy of my DxDiag information
Edit: Ok, I just ran a bunch of validations, restarting steam every time. It says no files are corrupt, going to test it quick and see how long it takes before it becomes unplayable.
Double Edit: Oh, silly me. Now steam wants to decrypt the files…
Triple Edit: Ok, lot’s of pictures here:
First I have my settings for the first set of screenshots:
Notice they are all maxed out. Now, here are some screens of textures from Dark Carnival 3:
Maybe I’m just paranoid, but to me the textures all look like complete crap in those pictures. Coach’s shirt is fuzzy, along with Ellis’s shirt, the sign, and the saferoom door. I guess that last screen is suppose to be wood, but it doesn’t look like wood just a fuzzy mess of brown pixels.
Now very similiar pics with all the lowest settings:
Notice how all the textures look EXACTLY THE SAME. The only difference I could notice in-game between the screenshots were the anti-aliasing.
Wow that does look really bad.
And on the issue of the fps drop on map change, the same issue was present in L4D1 and was patched out shortly after release. I am having the issue on my 4870X2 and I have found the best way to deal with it is to alt-tab to desktop as soon a the new maps loads and then go back in to L4D2. My FPS goes from 15-20 all the way back up to 70-120.
Hopefully it’ll get patched in L4D2 asap!
I don’t have L4D2, but check if it has the mat_picmip command, and bump that up to -1 or so.
Baseball bat ftw!
I must say, that realism thing is hard as hell o_O
If you have an ati card, disable catalyst AI and don’t force any settings.
Neither of these did anything. The poster still looks terrible and on maxed out settings the textures are clearly awful.
I’m going to try installing the drivers again, see if that helps.
Edit: Gaaaah! The game still fails to properly texture anything! I hope I get a decent response with my support ticket. After just doing the first campaign, I can already tell this game is full of pure awesome that makes L4D1 pale in comparison, I just wish I could properly play any of it!
Hey, does anyone else have any broken files? I can’t figure out why no amount of file verification will fix these 2 files that the game keeps claiming is broken.
Hard Rain has the most awesome weather effects. ever.
the update history says they fixed the level-change problem.
Dowloaded lastnight, but had a problem with the game during friendly fire (it would instantly exit to desktop) but I finaly got it to work.
Apparently ya need to change the C:\Windows\CSC folder to administrator priviledges in Vista & I think you need to do the same in Windows 7 if I’m not wrong. Once I did this… it no longer crashed to desktop. Just thought I’d share that incase anyone on here was having any hiccups.
I agree too, that the weathering effects is mint. Lets hope we see something similar in episode 3; like a blizzard or something.
Well, at least that’s one problem fixed. I still have these strange crappy textures and files that won’t verify, though.
Edit: And the problem isn’t fixed… Retarded game.
Dino, just do as people have suggested and delete/redownload it.
I’ve been loving it, but a mate of mine is having a problem. It tells him the game isn’t released yet. Just says: ‘preload complete. Ready to play when the game is released’ or whatever. Restarting or deleting clientregistry.blob don’t help, and he’s still waiting on a steam support ticket response. Anyone any ideas?
Mine did that, I just restarted steam ~5 times and it worked.
You can essentially delete everything except steam.exe and steamapps without breaking anything, it just re-downloads it all, so he could give that a try.
