Launch Details Discussion

Please read the first post in this thread:

3:47 PM GMT or 15:47 for the civilized people. :stuck_out_tongue:

Exactly. xD

I know you’ve probably have all your mirrors sorted out, but gamefront is a great site too, I always get my Max Download speed off of there.

Bullsquid, I live in Argentina also and know what you’re talking about.
Checkout what Steam has on offer right now and maybe on a daily basis.
If you don’t have Paypal, maybe a friend who has it can help you by buying it on his account and gifting it to you.
HL2 is USD2.55 today, but you better be quick.

Topic only or use PM to exchange your sob stories. Thank you.

Screw the giveaway, the time capsule idea is much better

12:47 AM! Yay! Although; then again I do stay up that late a ton of the time. Anyways, it’s great to see the mod coming to fruition. Love you devs!

6:47am for me. Fuuuuck, I’ve got to sit through an right hour shitfest of school knowing that this mod’s going to be out.

Comes out Noonish for me.

he he. I have planned a day off from school long ago. At least now I get to put a date on it.

I am quite dizzy with anticipation or is it the resonance cascade? Needless to say I am over the moon the release is upon us. I will get to christen my new gaming PC & have just got a new gaming mouse & illuminated keyboard so I am ready.

Daffy

It comes out on Friday, I will have the whole weekend to play it, why would I call out sick?

If someone has a CD Key only, how do they install Orange Box?.. do they need to download OB off torrent, but rather than using crack, they just enter legit key?.. I am leaning towards bullsquid… and do not want to ship it to Argentina…

How does this work when you have key but no physical copy?

Is the Private Message system here secure enough to fork over cd key?

From what I can tell, if you go into Steam, click on the Games menu, then choose “Activate a Product on Steam”, you can punch in the CD-key and it’ll find the associated game and download it. As for a secure place to transfer the key, I can’t help you with that.

Also, if you guys could find another thread to talk about this so that we can keep this thread for details on the launch, that’d be fantastic. Thanks!

in steam go to games and then activate a product on steam

Danielsangeo, I am sorry we are taking up space in this thread… but this did seem to be the logical place (at the time). Plus, whenever someone makes a new thread, they always seem to get bitched out for making a new one and not putting “over in that thread”… also, in hindsight, I am very glad I did not put this offer in a new thread that could have ended up having hundreds of sad stories to sift through…

And really, since the 2007 SDK is what folks ultimately need, I personally think it warrants putting on home/countdown (even if it means sullying the design of page a little) or at the minimum, a “WHAT YOU’LL NEED” link placed somewhere among the others… beyond folks needing to just get 2007 SDK, what else is there really to discuss?

EDIT: bullsquid is the winner. Sorry to the two other gents. It came down to the fact that he has been here a month, had 20 posts, and that someone who is of modest means in Argentina is probably worlds worse off than someone who considers themself poor here in US… So the contest (as it were) is hereby over. There shall be no further discussion about said contest.

But is the Private Message system at least secure enough for him to PM me his email, so I can shoot over CD Key?

Yes.

Thank you for providing that feedback. This is something we have taken into consideration and will be including and noting during the download process. Thanks!

Glad I could help. Hubi, did you see the post about header fade bug in IE9? (only if you are twiddlin’ thumbs, like us… not if you are doing actual work that launch depends on

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
