Launch Details Discussion

Hm, Mont_Blanc, did my earlier post get deleted for a reason or is this a site glitch?

Yes, a number of posts have been deleted from this thread. Hubi wanted to clean it up a little.

Ah. mkay. Was congratulating the devs and release…but hey whatever.

18:47 at my place, Friday. Good thing i have absolutely nothing to do 'till 17th. I’d recommend waiting about 2 hours after release for shit to calm down and decent DL speed, but i’m not sure if anyone can do that.

A little harsh, I’d say.
But then, living in Argentina is a sobering experience.
That’s all.

Yes, I see. I haven’t deleted any comments in this thread, but I can tell you why they’re doing it.

You know how Raminator is constantly deleting off-topic comments (and occasionally banning people) for posting off-topic comments in the important sticky threads like Got a Question or Ask a Dev? Well, since the release announcement, this thread might be the most important thread on the forum. They want to keep it strictly on-topic because it’s important information about what people need to know to be able to DL and play the game. All the comments need to directly address that.

So, it’s not that someone’s comment was deleted because it was bad or stupid, but because it was off-topic, and this is one of those important sticky threads where off-topic comments are going to be deleted.

My reaction to the front page which I noticed just now:
Sheet… awkward high pitched noises, jumping around and waving my hands in the air mentally

It’s gonna be great!
If anyone can answer, and if that hasn’t been asked before, what is the size of the game?

It’s in the first post of this thread in bold…

please don’t use zip/rar, use 7zip it has better compression, is open source, and free!.

Is there any word on compatibility with WINE?

We are including a exe installer that will extract all the files needed on your behalf.

It is up to the community to test this. Would be neat to see a WINE thread pop up during launch on the forums.

I am super psyched. Been waiting years for this.

I’m worried about the site temporarily imploding before I get home, although I’m sure preparations have been made for such an event

If it does, i’m sure other sites will have links to the torrent.

I imagine it could possibly be hosted on Moddb or something aswell, a site as popular as that could surely boost downloads and might be faster overall.

Do ModDB host Files themselves? I though they always link to 1-Click-hosters like Mediafire or such

Oh yes I think they do link to other sites, I am mistaken. However the point is still valid.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. I don’t know their criteria of selection though.

Probably file size related. The larger, the more often it ends up on gamefront.
