Launch Details Discussion

I meant in the case that changing one’s PC time would actually activate the URL allowing them to download it early, but of course that would mean installers and whatnot will already have to have been uploaded and ready as well. My post was hypothetical.

Typical clock deviation worldwide is ±10 minutes.
So, you’ll have 50% of fans angry at the broken system for 5 minutes.
Was that taken into account?

Somebody should rewrite the VDC page on Black Mesa: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Black_Mesa_%28Source%29
I’d do it myself but i don’t think i’m up to the task, and i don’t know what timezone the 8:47 AM thing is supposed to be happening in.

I believe it’s MST (i.e. the same timezone as New Mexico where the BMRF is set).

Record a video of the last 10 hours of the homepage countdown and post on youtube, re-live the final immersive hours of waiting for black mesa! and watch it over and over again

So are torrent links going to be put on the website? It seems like the only logical way to download this monster without the website exploding.

Hi,

Long time mod follower, even volunteered my skills but was obviously too late in the piece when I did.

So I’d just like to confirm what the actual release date is.

Because clearly, the world being round, there are multiple time zones.

When I check the mod page, it seems to work out around 1AM Australian Eastern Standard time on the morning of the 14th, being a friday.

Is this correct? The FB page has it listed as 12:00AM MDT (Colorado time).

Can someone associated from the mod please clarify where the release date timezone is, or are there multiple release times, etc.

As an Aussie I would be super stoked not to have to wait for US time to roll around like we always have to. Also it would mean I could take Friday off work and stay up all night (and the next day) playing black mesa!

If a dev does read this, really, thank you for all the time and effort and for copping all the SHIT you have during the dev process. Most people just don’t seem to get that you guys did this with a massive budget of ZERO, and a huge investment of YOUR OWN TIME. If you don’t feel amazingly proud you really should, right now!

Gotta give props to the media release campaign too, very well done so far… just praying you guys have the bandwidth to handle the extreme demand this is going to see… torrents is my suggestion, whether you guys put it there or some other guy does it will be on torrents… it would be better if you guys liaised with some of the sites like EZTV who have regular high bandwidth seeders that get torrents started. Anyway I’m sure you have considered all of the above! Another idea I had is maybe approach IGN PC section and ask them if they want to do an exclusive interview with one of the devs , would add even more hype to the launch if they did a big feature! Something a bit bigger than this:
https://au.ign.com/articles/2012/09/03/black-mesa-half-life-remake-launches-this-month

Maybe even give them a little ‘exclusive’ media… they will love that…

Thanks again!

The exact second the counter on the homepage hits 0, maybe?

dont you mean 1AM Australian Eastern Standard time on the morning of the 1[COLOR=‘green’]5th, being a [COLOR=‘green’]saturday I might be wrong, but thats what i came up with earlier today

[COLOR=‘Red’]accual time in Australia, Victoria is Sep 15 @ 12:47am

The release date is September 14 at 8:47AM MDT (the time in New Mexico) if I’m not mistaken.

Hmmmm why am I now thinking new IPS 27" - 30" monitor and SSD!!!

The Mrs has been WARNED! lol

Cant wait!

I know a lot of people said this already, but I wish to say thanks to the whole team for putting lots of work to get to this point.

I honestly can’t wait to try out the mod.

The release date for gmt+2 is:

Friday 14th September 16:46

Soo that sucks… 04:46AM saturday 15th AEST… bummer. Stupid round earth! The countdown clock is a bit deceptive then… because it must work on your local time. Still it’s been eight years… another day won’t hurt me.

Half-Life 2 is on a 66% sale now on Steam. Coincidence?

Yes, the release date and time is September 14, 2012 at 8:47 AM, New Mexico time (Mountain Daylight Time).

I don’t think so…

Valve isn’t that much of a money hoarder!
…Right?

The easiest way to keep track of the release time in your local timezone:
Join the Black Mesa community group on Steam! There is an event there (see this link) that, when you are logged in to Steam, will display the time the event takes place in your own local timezone.

Also, let’s try to keep to keep this thread a little on topic. This thread is about how the actual Black Mesa release will happen, what download options you can expect, what happens when the timer reaches zero - etc. If you want to discuss the game itself, or congratulate/praise the developers, please use this thread.

Ok well that isn’t GMT+2… so that would put the release time AEST at approx 12:45AM SATURDAY 15th Sept, which is what I originally worked out…

And yeah, any real information we could get about how the download will be available would be great…

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
