Looks like Al Pacino, James Avery, and two others I can’t think of right now.
This game will be great if those who have the first one get a slight discount.

You’re right there, it’s been done for ages but what I mean is its been happening alot more recently.

You are talking shit!
The HL2 Episodes are the best games ever made.
Just got to hell!
Crazy little thought here (not bat-shit crazy like Ramirezoid’s tirade there), but did anyone think that perhaps Valve is making yet another (instantly)accessible, unit selling game to perhaps make the money to supplement a coming product, one they’ve been known to showcase advances in game engine technologies with?
I’m not talking about Episode 3 specifically, I am of course bummed about getting snubbed in regards to that. Thing is, when you stop to consider how much it costs to produce a game these days, especially one that you want to be much more ground breaking than it’s predecessor, the dollar amount gets immensely high.
I hope this is the reasoning. Perhaps it will turn out to be wishy-washy.
^Very possible, a new mainly single-player IP like HL maybe. But i wouldn’t mind if it was just for Ep3, and hopefully, the next HL after that.
About L4D2, what people don’t understand is they wouldn’t have made the decision blindly, they’ve always been one to listen to consumers. So that means, if they’ve gone to through to bring out L4D2, they will try to make sure its doesn’t upset the fans too much.
There probably will be a price drop for those who already own the first L4D, probably $25 or even less. And maybe the L4D2 together with the old one for a total of $50.
Have faith in those who have introduced HL in our lives.
Even with a price cut I’m not buying, I’ve never and will never pay for DLC. The whole concept of it simply angers me. But not nearly as much as subscriptions.
Am I the only one who is actually looking forward to Left 4 Dead 2? After Left 4 Dead 1, I have high expectations, so this better not suck.
Oh wah, if you don’t want to pay for something YOU DIDN’T MAKE then go get the sdk and make the fucking thing yourself or look for a community mod that’s similar. Valve is a business and businesses have to make money to keep making products. If they didn’t charge for DLC then they wouldn’t make any money on something they spent countless hours on, just for you, to enjoy.
Not charging for DLC would be like me not charging for a design. If you don’t want to pay for a professional to do the design then go get your fucking little 12 year old nephew that’s never opened photoshop to do it.
Wanna know why they charge for subscriptions? To make more content year round so you have a steady supply of gameplay while you sit your nerdy ass down all day and play. If they didn’t do subscriptions then they would just have to wait 6 months to a year and release an expansion pack and you PAY for that on top of the $50 you spent buying the game. And the only way you will be able to keep up with everyone is to pay $20-$35 every 6 months or less to get the new content.
Then how come they promoted their sales strategy for it at GDC’08 where Gabe said that every TF2 update and free weekend created a 20% Sales spike?
Yes, we all know that the nintendo Wii is doing so poorly and costing nintendo so much money because they didn’t create a subscription fee like the 360. And we all know that there’s no such thing as a successful MMO because none of them can compare to WOW in terms of subscribers.:meh:
I haven’t seen any actual reason for all of this formless rage against L4D2.
Care to tell me any reasons? And I mean actual reasons, not “they didn’t announce Ep3, GWOOOOR!”
EDIT: and why did someone say they hated DLC? Are they just the same as expansions, but downloadable?
Valve has been getting a lot of hate these days, starting from the Scout update and now this.
Why the scout update? I liked it. :S
yeah, what is with the scout update?
it’s awesome, isn’t it?
I think he’s referring to the Sniper/Spy update where they added the random item drops. That didn’t really bother me. (in fact i’ve been trying to get a hat with SteamStats.exe)
It seems like everything bothers u.
People are already bitching and we don’t even know most of the details about this game yet. I never bought the first one…Wanted to, but it came out in a pocket in time where I had no money (or a decent comp for that matter). This one will hopefully be different enough, but not too different, as I missed out on the first experience.
Just waiting for someone to say something ignorant about Savannah Georgia. I was born there. I got my first official paying gig in animation there.
PS: LOL! When the hell was L4D horror? If one thing was scary, it was the… nothing…
Watch the gameplay videos. Notice how it’s daytime?
Also, lame generic southern rodeo music instead of generic (but fits perfectly) orchestrated music.
And the characters look dull and lifeless.
I just don’t think it’ll be as good as Left 4 Dead 1.
Also, yes, DLC is basicly expansions but downloadable. Expansions have been around since the Quake mission packs, maybe even earlier. People just like to bitch about being forced to pay for stuff (see “Happy Birthday Garry!” thread.)
Yes, so we know it’s daytime in at least one map, but it may not be the same all over. And the rodeo music might not be the music feature in the game (but I’m not betting on it). You get nothing from the characters in that. Remember the L4D teasers?
They were shit.
Nope, but pretty close to everything.
Maybe that’s why you’re not complaining. It’s one thing to pay 50$ for a game, it’s another to pay $100. It’s like playing a year-long beta for $50.
I don’t know, it seems anything with violence and dark atmosphere gets the “horror” label these days. Wouldn’t surprise me if Plants vs Zombies got that label just for having zombies in it.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
