I find it interesting that in the face of everything we’ve said to you, all you can say is “I’ve done such and such and this and that and it only took me so long to do it in”
that’s paraphrasing, if you didn’t catch it.
You say you’ve made games? It’s really easy to say something. Here’s an example.
I’m secretly the head developer of Atlus and I can assure everyone that although no announcements have been made, Shin Megami Tensei 4 is in the works!
How many of you believe me? none of you do… or if you do, you’re truthfully a hopeless soul. The point is, unless you’re willing to back up some claims with some hard proof, don’t go there. I certainly don’t believe you. Your post format, the fact that your spelling suddenly got quite horrendous, is a sign that you’re flustered and saying whatever pops into your mind to say whether it’s true of false. The fact that you went out of your way to mention that you’ve been flamed and have been unaffected tells me that you feel like you’ve been flamed (which you haven’t) and you are suddenly feeling very defensive about it.
Now, in regards to your comments about updating things to say to look at the forums and the wiki, I really don’t think that should be necessary. As mentioned before, doing such a thing would only cause an influx of people clamoring on about how the mod’s going to be released soon. Maybe it will be, maybe it won’t. But we don’t need that going on. I’m not sure who thought up doing what they did to the home page, but I think they might have made a mistake in doing so. It’s common knowledge on the internet these days that if you want up to date information on something, a wiki is the best place to get it. And there’s a link to the wiki right on the home page. As I said before, it’s a no-brainer. Furthermore, it’s been a long-standing online tradition that information can usually be found on dedicated forums. Once again, a no-brainer. The problem is, most people aren’t intelligent about it once they get on the forums. Most of the information they are looking for is only a “search” away.
I’m done for now. Or I thought I was… then I was ninjad…
I hate to say this Pyjamasbox, but you are right, and wrong at the same time. Yes, they could have gone without using a single original sound file, and yes, they did have the story and general progression layed out for them. But consider this… they still had to build all those levels from scratch, they didn’t have any preexisting levels just laying around to be used. Furthermore, they didn’t just… copy the levels. Each level has been completely redone and revamped. The levels are not going to be like they were in the original game, layouts are going to be different. So consider that they DID have to take the time to design new layouts. Furthermore… sure Activision pops out a new game every year… great… they’ve got hundreds of people working for them. Black Mesa does not. Furthermore, there is still the issue that no one lives near each other, they can’t just meet up to collaborate, to lay all their cards on the table for discussion. companies like Activision can… and do. You say our devs have the advantage, but they most assuredly do not. Oh… also… rarely do game companies create new sounds for their games most companies use open sourse materials for things like gunshots and enemies dieing, for doors opening and explosions.
Now I’m done… for sure… unless I’ve been ninjad again?
