I'm confused by all the complaining.

ITT: “Black Mesa is taking too long! I could make my OWN remake of Half Life…with beer and hookers. In fact, forget the remake.”

They’re basically making a commercial game in the shape of a free mod on their own free-time.

I really have nothing to say except that it’s impressive that you guys are pushing for so much. Like i said, though, i’m not angry at the devs for not releasing. Being patient

soooo…are you’re working on Black Mesa as we speak?

I’m entirely convinced that after this long, the mod is going to be fantastic. When I finally stop my first session of playing it, I’ll be hunched over the computer in a darkened room, smelling horribly, surrounded by disgusting fast food, snacks, and soda, and grown a full beard.

I wouldn’t trust the forum’s Steam profile plug-in if I were you.

It says I’m offline, even though I’m on Steam right now.

Ah, look at that, it’s working correctly now. Interesting part is, I was using my custom url for it and the widget was still linking to my steam profile number instead, so it was a question of copy pasting the number from the widget’s url into the forum details and now it works correctly while still linking to the correct number wtf mind = blown.

Mine still shows me that I was online 11 hours and 52 minutes ago. For months :frowning:

I just typed sersoft into the box and I think it works fine

I don’t often post, although I browse all the time, but today I feel the need to “contribute.”

What I disagree with:

I believe that by creating a twitter account for BMS, the dev team then have an obligation to keep it updated. Either use it or don’t. Obviously they have chosen the latter and by keeping it plastered to the homepage they’re automatically creating an endless debate on whether the mod is dead or not.
Think of it like this…people always have and always will judge a book by it’s cover. When the homepage has a big bold UPDATES sign saying “follow us for recent updates…420 days ago” people are obviously going to ask questions. Anyway, I digress  Either update it, or remove it. (You could of done that with the recent homepage update, but oh well -_-) When you chose to create a twitter feed to keep the fan boys and girls happy, that was your choice, I believe you should ultimately recognise that.

What I agree with:

I believe that Rams mature/clever answers on the forums are brilliant and just what the large fan base needs.
Keeping the wiki constantly updated is great because it rewards those who take the time to actually look for new content/updates.
I fully appreciate what a huge task the devs have and your ability to not be pressured by a massive amount of BS from the forum majority is admirable.

Lastly, keep it up! Ranting aside, I simply can’t wait to see what guys/gals come up with!

And then, if you remove the Twitter feed, people will assume that the mod is dead. Anything that the devs do (even nothing) will arouse rumor and speculation about the mod. ANYTHING. The devs, mods, and the webmaster have NO OBLIGATION to do ANYTHING for ANYONE.

If these speculating folks can’t spend less than 5 minutes doing research…

Wow… That’s so clever, and mature! :3

I have to say, the attitude of “Let’s not remove this pointless and misleading part of our homepage, if we do, idiots might actually think something stupid!”

You can’t escape idiots, dude. They should do what’s rational and ignore them.

Refusing to put out gameplay videos because they’ll lead to speculation is a fucking oxymoron. It leads to speculation because you aren’t posting any. It makes me personally feel like maybe you guys are overselling the quality of the mod.

Every other professional mod has released far more content then TBM, and none of them are any worse for ware.

Shit, at this point, i’d suck dick for a dev diary or even a new FX test.

pb: Now that’s not true. There is a whole buttload of media that has been released. Look at the Wiki and then tell me again that other mods release even HALF what the devs have released.

I was referring more to the media that people are more interested in. Although seeing screenshots of some 3d models or levels is fine, people want to see the game in motion, and know it’s alive. I would suck dick for a game build of one level or gameplay video, even if the video was something simple like the tram ride.

I mean, what could the tram ride spoil? That’s just me. I just feel like they’re doing this all wrong.

not necessarily complaining, just expressing my feelings on the way they are going about this mod.

It would spoil the beginning of the game. tbh, I’d much rather wait until it’s out, rather than watch the tram ride sequence on YouTube. It’d just make me want to play it even more, rather than satiate the need for new video content.

Agree with Maxx here. Releasing more media at this point will be spoiling the game. I don’t want the tram ride being released. I didn’t look at the leaked screenshots from that magazine.

I want the first time to see any new media to be when I load the mod up and see it in stunning, motherfucking 1920x1200, 28" glory! :rabies:

I agree too, and I defenitely don’t want the tram ride to be spoiled.
As a matter of fact, once the mod is released, people should film themselves while going through Inbound for the very first time on their very first playthrough.
Will be fun to see if “jawdropping” really is jawdropping.

how do you spoil a tram ride that you’ve been on a million times before? other then visual fidelity?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
