Then perhaps there’s no reason to play Black Mesa. We’ve seen it all before, right?
Ugh. Nevermind. :jizz:
People complained when you released media? What the fuck were they complaining about?
Knowing the general population that frequents these areas looking only for media, probably that there wasn’t enough released.
There’s always going to be whiners, Raminator.
some people dont mind waiting. Heck look at Duke Nukem Forever
There are two things I have noticed. 1) There are people who defend the Devs and mods. 2) There are people who are impatient and will say anything they can think of to try to get Dev reaction.
There are over 7500 comments on the Steam page that go like this: Is it dead? No. When is it released? https://isblackmesareleased.com. Why is it taking so long? Devs have lives and are doing this for free. Aren’t we entitled to updates? No, shut up. The world will end in 2012 and we won’t get to play it. Again, shut up. Black Mesa Forever? It is not dead. Where can I find information? Emphatic defense of Black Mesa and devs. Random discussion about other mods and people posting fart jokes.
And it continues in this loop.
Frankly, I don’t understand why some of these people are just sitting around staring at the screen and waiting for information or a release date. There are plenty of new PC games and new mod releases every month. And with the sales on Steam, I’m surprised more people aren’t busier. I check back once every three weeks to look at any new files and the repeating comments (hoping the conversations might evolve). I have read the forums and it is good reading. But, I also play the other games I have. I go outside. I work. Life goes on.
I do not care if any information is posted or for the debate between fans. To me, there are a lot of fans that have absolutely killed the mood of this mod. It is like going on a date and having your friends call you every 5 seconds asking if you have kissed yet and why not. Then your other friends text your date and defend your stance on why you haven’t kissed yet. It’s killing the date and the suspense.
For me, the main problem is in trying not to play into the hands of either thought: ‘imminent release’ or ‘being dead’. So, perpetual limbo sets in. I say, do something, it might actually taper off those people who aren’t die hard fans or at least we can get a laugh at their expense for thinking it was coming out tomorrow. We will see them again when it finally is released. It would actually make the greatest April fools joke ever.
I miss the contests. That was the part that saddened me the most. When that stopped, people got antsy and impatient.
There are people who are going to complain, and then there are people who don’t. Even if most of the people complain, you’re letting all down all those who don’t, by not providing any relevant info about the progress and therefore losing their support too. Only the most patient people (including me) still just wait for the release, and being happy with everything we have so far. Why not just ignore the whiners? If whiners influence other people to start whining too (when you read their idiotic statements how that sounds sucks, etc.) you can start questioning, whether they were REAL fans to begin with. And not some idiots passing by.
Spamds: People will never be satisfied until the mod is released. And then, maybe even not then. The whiners and those that “stopped supporting the mod” will be first in line to download it when the mod is released, so, how about we ignore those that ask for updates ad nauseam ad infinitum and just wait?
Well, whether you wan’t to see whining about updates, or whining about lack of updates. There’s always going to be someone to whine in both situations. But IMO there’s less whining when you regularly provide a test video or something every once in a while. Or atleast tell how much there is still to do in the mod developing.
The devs are posting about the mod ALL THE TIME. Anyone with a little motivation to do more than one click of the mouse can find it. The devs are working on this mod for thousands of hours; can’t someone do more than 2 minutes of research to find ALL their hearts’ desires? Sheesh.
There’d be more whining if people had something to criticize
All I have found is just some chit-chat, or just another piece of this huge jigsaw, that leaves the main question open; how much there’s still left appromixately? And please, do direct me in the right direction…
You’d think that if there’s a question that was very frequently asked, they’d have something like a FAQ to look at…
They could throw some raw estimations, and not to let people hype about it too much. But I guess the problem is that they don’t know themselves how much there is left… Updates should be put somewhere, where people could read them quickly without having to search for it… like to the main site, or youtube channel.
“without having to search for it”
No.
I was going to come on here last week and thought about grumbling… until I saw the vending machine shots on the front page!!! Detailed packets of Quavers and Walker’s crisps!!!1111 I noticed they’ve been slightly shopped so as not to match exactly, but they look great, along with all the other new screenies.
Heh… even looks like there are pork scratchings in there too!
Good thing you didn’t. You would have gotten banned.
So in other words Black Mesa discriminates against lazy people? Damn, I smell a lawsuit from stupid people and their equally if not more stupid lawyers.
It’s not so much laziness because it takes LESS time to find the answers to the questions than it does to actually register and post your complaint.
