True, but tell that to the people who complain about not getting updates every five seconds.
I think we need to give the team a big round of applause.
They are doing it for free, and have made a very good job of it thus far.
Though it’s their choice and their project, I sure hope they’re not all:
“Ah yes, something needs to be done with BM. I’ll start that right after lunch… tomorrow.”
I don’t want procrastinating to be the reason we can’t play this yet, when it’s so close to release.
Raminator Steam Community Info:
Playing time in the last two weeks:
Source SDK – 56.2 hrs / 2653 hrs
Source SDK Base 2007 – 54.7 hrs / 1731.2 hrs
needs moar hrs
I agree, these developers are doing this in their free time. They have no obligation to release this to you at all.
And the devs want this sucker released just as much as the fans do. Maybe even more.
well. DA2 was a pretty disappointing game. at least for me. and a LOT of other people.
Good grief, over 50 hours in 2 weeks? I’m impressed.
Its probably becoming quite the gremlin now
I was about to say something snarky, along the lines of “Are you people still at it?!”
but then I thought about it for a moment and the answer struck me. Of course you people are still at it, I’m not sure why I was in the least bit surprised to find this topic still very much active and talking about the exact same things from 6 pages ago… and from 5 pages ago… and from 4 pages ago… and from… you get the idea.
Is it really a big deal, really? I say ignore the morons that complain for no valid reason. Point the newbs (who are respectful) towards the information they seek, even if it’s just to tell them to check “suchandsuch” topic for information on how to find what they are looking for. in fact, pointing all newbs to this very thread would be very good since all the information they need to find their way to the wiki and it’s contents is posted on nearly every single page of this thread.
Oh, and for one other thing that needs deeling with, ignore the morons, help the respectful newbs, kill the goblins before they can steal our right socks… did I miss out anything?
@ Raminator:
You may find that weird.
However, from our point of view (the non-dev forumers), it sure sounds a lot weirder that a dev, who actually DOES have a hand in the development time, complains that the wait is too long.
I kinda understand what you are feeling, though. I have it myself when i’m working in team on writing new software and it takes much longer than expected. But, I’m not gonna tell the future users that I am also waiting for it to be finished.
I don’t think Ram is saying that they’re “waiting” for it to be finished but that they WANT it released more than you do.
Men are the most desperate when they long for some desirable outcome of something, but cannot influence the outcome the slightest.
That’s why men handle the birth of their wives’ babies so badly – so many things may go wrong and there’s not a single thing the man can do to ensure everything goes right.
And that’s also the fundamental psychological problem behind all the complaining, trolling and whatnot on these forums – All of us so very much want the mod to be amazing, we all want it to come out as soon as possible, but there’s nothing we can personally do about it.
If this was a female-targetted mod for female-targetted game, this wouldn’t be happening. Women (on general) work differently and are somehow on terms with the fact that things cannot be directly influenced by them. But this is Black Mesa, the adventure of the greatest videogame male hero of all times, and we, “The Men”, … but I am already starting to repeat myself.
Best of luck, Devs.
@danielsangeo, ok, but in the end it comes down to the same. The devs are the only people that have a hand in when it will be released.
Lets see, if you die a little bit inside when people complain, coupled with the fact that people tend to complain on an almost daily basis, leads me to one conclusion. You are a zombie now, and most likely have been one since 2009.
I’m fine with the time it takes, buuut they shouldn’t announce the release date until they have it done. Or, they can keep it “undisclosed to the public”
Don’t let it get you down. You guys are doing a fantastic job, take your time, because it will ultimately mean a fantastic product
Input and throughput means jack shit without any output. Until its released, people will continue complaining and express maximum frustration.
I don’t give a fuck how long the devs take to complete this mod as long its a good game to play. Take your time and make sure its right.
This year would be good though am I right though…
