1.)Find a clip of somebody asking “are we there yet?”
2.)Repeat forever.
3.)You now have the BM forums as an audio book.
Hm, maybe you got addicted to giving witty answers to the fans in the forum, and that’s why we’re not there yet?
quiet, don’t startle it
WHENS BLACKMESA OUT???
I went to the site (redirected me to https://isblackmesareleased.com/releasedate/), and it told me to solve
ln(2+sqrt(arctan(x)*sin(1/x)))
lim x–>0
to prove that I’m not a bot, and when I did, and entered ln(2) for the answer it said “ERROR: You did not enter the correct answer. Please try again.”
Halp! I wanna know if it’s released yet!
lol.
EDIT: Oh wait, now it works, but it Friday’s me. :C
I hate to say it, but drawing more attention to updates is all there is to do. I know the Wiki gets changed all the time, and new media does get released every few months, but the only way to answer a question like “are you guys working?” is with proof. I remember every time the game I was involved in released a bit of media (no matter how small) the crowd shut up for quite a bit.
Look at interstellar marine’s community. They’re a patient bunch. No, they haven’t suffered a delay lasting well over a year nor have the devs seemed to socially “given up”, but the hype has been building quite a bit. They have their picture of the week (it doesn’t even have to be a screenshot, it could be concept art from 3 years ago; if we haven’t seen it, it’s new to us) and the occasional small tech demo every few months. It doesn’t matter how hard the devs are working, all the fans on the outside see is consistency. Showing followers progress is like feeding a pet.
I know it just adds tedium to the job, but it gives the followers security. They’re less inclined to ask stupid questions when the answers come before they can open their mouths.
It’s too late now though. If you guys started regularly releasing new (or just unseen) media now, people would get the wrong idea and think a release is coming up.
The best course of action at this time probably is to only answer the smart questions. When people ask shit like “WEN MOD COM OUT” there’s really nothing to say that won’t be taken the wrong way by anyone. If you say you don’t know, then everyone questions your integrity. If you withhold information, everyone assumes you don’t know. At the risk of sounding like a commanding asshole, just don’t answer. If you feel an “about seven” coming up, swallow it down. That’s all I can think of.
Problem: Black Mesa has been delayed time, and time again because the developers work on it for fun, and on their own time.
Solution? Assume it will never come out, so that when it does eventually come out, it will be a pleasant surprise rather than something that took a decade to make.
PROBLEM SOLVED
Problem solved.
it has been delayed one time
I don’t think you read the post, mate.
Holy shit I didn’t even realize…people need to shut up and wait.
But is it worth it for those who appreciate it?

What makes you think that?
Im assuming the countless number of people that wanted MOAR AND MOAR. I can guarantee that there were plenty of us that were satisfied by those media outlets, myself included.
You see the problem there is that those of us who were satisfied spoke less than those people who cant get enough, because, in essence, we had enough.
Theres always going to be people like that in any mod, but this is a much larger case because its such a popular mod.
The best thing really to do is ignore the people who are constantly bantering you for too much, rather than taking what they are given, even if its a short video showing development of the gluon gun or how roaches work; its all cool shit to see in action and further proof that you are still internally alive and working.
Methinks they would post a gigantic news post all over the Intertubes if they decided to cancel or stop work on the project. No news is good news in this regard. Silence is the new black.
Also, they’ve been working on this thing for so long now that it’d be insane to not finish it. The devs haven’t gone that insane…yet.
I honestly think we have enough media. Look at the Wiki. It contains hundreds of bits of information from the developers; enough to sate even the most hungry fan.
Begging for more media or more information won’t work. Just be patient and wait for release.
Black Mesa is still alive.
Okay I’ll flame you, you my good sir are an idiot! How can you even be this uninformed and even bother to make that post? Did you even read my first post or did you just read the title before you made your incredibly ignorant comments? Also put up or shut up, if you can remake Half Life 1 so quickly than do it already. Once you find out how dumb your being and it takes you a super long time I promise you that ill be the first one on your website bitching at you, for no good reason, about taking so long on something I’m expecting you to do for me for free.
Okay now that that is done on to my next point…
Why should the devs care what us followers think, we are getting something for nothing and they don’t owe us anything. Have you ever heard of the saying, “beggars cant be choosers”, anyways the mod is either going to be finished or its not and no amount of released media is going to change that. I honestly hope that the devs don’t release media and spend the time that they would of taken to release that media and spend it working on the mod, or spend it doing whatever the hell they feel like doing because like I said they don’t owe us anything.
What is everyone complaining about anyway, they said that they’d release it in 2009 and it still is 2009 after all.
How you dun figgur dat?
Pro guy is pro
I just want to say that I have been pumped about this (complete remake) mod for a long time. I don’t care how long it takes, and the amount of media on the site and wiki is huge. Look how much freaking detail there is! Entirely reworked elements in the maps and everything just looks waaayyy cooler! :facepalm:The new maps make the valve guys look like hacks! Come on, there’s a massive amount of work besides copying the maps and upgrading the textures, and if im not mistaken valve did that. I hear it wasn’t that different. In my opinion, the devs are kicking ass and i hope they continue to do so, but its not my business if they don’t.
They satisfied plenty of people. A great deal. It just made the idiots more vocal, and the regular fans less so. Now that it’s basically stagnant water, everyone in the two different crowds have kinda meshed together. PandaMassacre basically stated what I was about to say so fuck it.
Even the vids of really incomplete/ obscure shit were enough. 3 seconds of railways would probably make the loud assholes of yesteryear jizz their pants at this point. Personally I’m interested in the custom particle effects and shaders and all that shit. Sure, I’ll wait when the mod comes out to see em if I have to, but it’s cool to see the iteration happen. Like with the gluon gun.
But as I said, starting releasing media again now would probably fuck everything up.
Go for it. No one is stopping you.
