Even a Nvidia 8600 GT is able to play Episode 2 at nice framerates, the only thing that reduces my framerate a little is when i turn on the flashlight, i guess the dynamic shadows are too much for my card. I hope that the huge outdoor areas wont drop the framerates too much!

I’ve played HL a lot. I don’t remember any outdoor areas that are huge…except for maybe when you first meet the HECU-dropping helicopters and the part where you call in airstrikes. Which parts are “huge outdoor areas”?

nVidia cards beat ATI cards by almost 1000%, ATI cards usually fail most of the time, plus I only know about Geforce cards, none other than that.

U just contradicted yourself there, also ATI has a better price to preformance ratio. 5870 is $100 cheaper than the GTX295, yet it equals it in preformance. Even if nVidia cards were better than ATI cards, the 9800GT ur gettin is still a mediocre card.

ITT certain people say bad things about ATI but cannot back it up since they have done jack shit when it comes to research.

It will be fine alot worse graphcics cards and computer than that can run hl2 smoothly. Mines a Gefore 5200 Fx and the processor sucks but it runs it fine, i ahve also an acient computer that runs a graphcis card that was from some of the VERY earlier ones and it sucks but manages to run hl2 so eyah you are fine dude :slight_smile:

Each to his own. I personally favour nVidia almost solely based on the fact that that’s all I’ve had so have not much experience with ATI, hence would rather stay with what I know. That and at the moment I don’t have the $ to go parts shopping so looking at GPU reviews isn’t top of my todo list.
