How did Eli and Kleiner get to Eastern Europe?

Somebody in the HL vs. HL2 thread brought this up, and I realize that it was never explained in game.

I hope I don’t sound stupid asking the question, but I’ve read pretty much the entire “Combine Overwiki” (Half Life wiki) and don’t recall anything regarding that.

So, how did Eli and Kleiner get to Bulgaria or wherever Half Life 2 is set in?

They we’re probably relocated by the Combine to Eastern Europe, then they escaped their city somehow, and fled to City 17 where Eli lost his leg in the process. Or he lost it in Black Mesa and they were just relocated to City 17. Whichever is the canon version of his leg-losing.

everyone knows that the only way to get to Bulgaria is to have a very sexy and sharp chin

Ah, I can’t believe I forgot about the fact that the Combine relocates people a lot.

A portal, Duh.

Maybe our mutual friend had something to do with it.

Eli constructed Dog tied a side-car to him and together Eli and Kliener had a comical adventure through a post-alien invaded Earth to fulfill a prophecy of the going to Eastern Europe!

I’m not entirely sure but my best guess is, they took the train?

A more elaborate theory would be that they moved to a less populated area to go on peacefully with their research, when the combine started to suspect something they sent Breen there and then Gman decided it was time to let Gordon run loose again.

Kliener and Eli went to Eastern Europe because there was an abandoned Black Mesa owned base there (White Forest).

I’m pretty god damn sure they were relocated to c17 by combine gestapo or something, just like all the other Canadians and Americans that live there.

Why not email Laidlaw and get a solid answer? Even if he makes it up on the spot you nerds will eat it up as the ultimate truth

Seeing as how Kliener and Eli both came from the same place, it would not be crazy to assume that they were relocated to the same one for efficency. What I want to know is how Eli and Kleiner got out of Black Mesa before the nuke detonated. Or without getting slaugtered by the Aliens, Marines, or Black Ops.

:retard:

??? This is the stupidest question ever.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that they all hopped on llamar’s back as she magestically galloped to Bulgaria.

Obviously.

How do people enjoy threads like these? It’s just senseless babble with absolutely no meaning or depth, how is that entertaining? Cue waves more trolls claiming that their posts did have depth and meaning and that they were being entirely serious.

For me to enjoy a discussion it either has to be clever and humorous, or an interesting serious discussion. This is neither.

My post did have depth and meaning and I was being entirely serious.

Seriously? We’ve exhausted just about every topic for discussion in the Half Life universe here in these forums. Why bother discussing pointless, uninteresting topics, just for the sake of talking about Half Life? Go read the other hundreds of threads in here. They stay there for a reason, so anyone can go back and read them, and so duplicate threads don’t have to be started by newcomers. Those threads aren’t any less interesting or relevant just because they’re a little old. We haven’t had new info on most HL-related subjects for a long time, so just about any point that could be brought up, has been brought up.

Please, for your own sakes, just let it go. When something new comes up, or if you think of something and you check thoroughly and you’re sure we haven’t talked about it, then make a new thread.

Well my brother told me (so it could be false) that valve disowned the Opposing Force story line because it didn’t flow with the storyline they wanted to make. I think they only let gearbox make blue shift and opposing force for extra money and to keep half life somewhat relevant during the long break between the first game and half-life2.

You’re probably right. The only threads that could possibly be entertaining to others are the threads that are entertaining to you.

Actually I read somewhere that while the Gearbox games aren’t canon, the fact that a nuclear detonation destroyed Black Mesa is canon.

(And I’d like to point out that not even the events of HL1 is canon, as the adventures Barney is hinting at in the HL2 universe is most probably the combined memories of all the barnies who escorted you on a section or two in HL1. Just like Kleiner, Eli and Magnusson are the combination of their respective classes of characters: the bald scientist, the african american scientist and the scientist with the hairline. Although you could pinpoint which exact character they represent from HL1, but I’m positive that the nostalgic feeling when Kleiner first appears on the screen in HL2 is only there because all those many clones of him in HL1 and not the two-senctence guy only in the Anomalous Materials Lab.)

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
