I like both equally, both games are masterpieces, i am sure.
Yes. I did.
So far Episode One is easier, but the real challange will come only in the last two chapters.
Yeah, I thought about those parts where you inevitably take damage and the challenging sections of the game (like trying to evade mass quantities of bullets from combine soldiers armed with sub-machine guns and pulse rifles firing at you).
ooh,
I actually remember going through Half-Life with 90-100hp on hard once for a challenge. If i had taken more than 10 points of damage, i would reload my last quicksave and try to be more careful.
So i guess it is possible if you strategically quicksave like a crazy motherfucker.
Totally HL1, I love the govermnent-involved-knowing-about-aliens of 90’s america conspiracy theories etc, HL2 lacks a real soul, the story is a patchwork to try to explain the 1st, and nothing fits really.
As the following of HL1 imho, HL2 failed but when you take it as a brand new story its nice
Nah . You’ve to strategically quicksave like a cunning one. Otherwise after the next quick load, you’ll have 0.2 seconds to avoid a bullet which was fired at you 3 quick saves ago.
Also, one should find a way to trick some of the scripted events, or the ai, or both by finding an alternate route… as many times as possible.
I see, I see. You, Sir Medkit, have become one with Half-Life. Respect.
On my next playthrough, I don’t doubt finding myself attempting this challenge. I play on hard mode almost every playthrough of all the half-life games and am very comfortable with the gameplay and maps in the Half-Life series, so it would be something i might be able to achieve. I would have to assume it takes some time doing however since playing through
HL2 casually eats up a few hours.
They are both equally good, better in different ways. You cant realy bring hl2 down for car levels, i mean remember On a Rail? :fffuuu:
Half Life is more fun as a game but lacks the storyline and graphics.
Half Life 2 is more fun as a story telling game and has the graphics but isn’t as fun to play.
Having said this they are still both amazing games.
I preferred HL1 when HL1 was new, compared to HL2 when HL2 was new. Now I would find it more interesting to replay HL2, just because I have played HL1 way too much and I know it all by heart. But I agree with you that HL2 doesn’t have the cool monsters of HL1, where’s the freaking Bullsquid, Gargantua, Vortiguants (Yes they’re there but they’re no longer your enemy), Houndeyes, etc? Why on earth did Valve think that replacing all those different kinds of aliens with the Combine will be good enough? I love the Combine, they’re smart and challenging, but there needs to be more wildlife in there.
Half-Life 1 wins!
Yeah, when you point it out, the lack of diverse wildlife in Half Life 2 kinda sucks.
The so called Cinematic Mod tries to deal with that, but that mod also finds other ways to ruin the game. Black Mesa won’t run with CM installed, right?
Anyway, finished Episode One with 1hp, starting Episode Two.
Medkit, post videos of your inevitable rage in trying to beat Episode 2 with 1HP.
I started playing HL: Source again, and have realised that the character does seem to be going as fast as a gazelle on steroids. Noting this, hopefully the charcter speed in BMS is slowed somewhat (But then I’m sure I remember being 25% slower in HL than that of HL: Source)
Well. I think you shouldn’t judge HL1 from playing HL:S imo. I’m a big HL1 fan but I don’t like HL:S at all… HL:S was even more fail than HL2 was…
Source is a fail yes.
Half Life 2 a fail?
Where are your glasses?
The result says: Half-Life 2 (70) > Half-Life 1 (64)
HL2 is the best game ever made, even better than the first one!
(my opinion)
Sorry, I had enough of the “fraps and than convert video” business for a time. Anyway, in Episode Two the first major challange is to go down to 1 hp from 72. I tried throwing rocks on myself, but they cause 5 or 10 hp demage… and it was a quite fustrating. Finally, I’ve decided to proceed to the first zombie encounter, took some falling demage and welcomed some friendly hugs from the “punished for wearing white” dudes. I entered that communication room (where we can also find that damned garden dwarf) with at 1hp.
Now I am defending that rebel holdout where a vortigaunt is tending to Alyx… and I gotta say that medic is an ace with throwing medkits at me.
