Just because it’s taken a while, doesn’t mean the game won’t be released. Just look at Duke Nukem Forever.
Except that because it’s Valve, you can be assured that it won’t suck as bad as DNF.

They said “we are done with episodic content” and judging by how long it took for new HL game to come out it seems we should await HL3 … also Gabe said:
“We went through the episodes phase, and now we’re going towards shorter and even shorter cycles.”
“For me, ‘entertainment as a service’ is a clear distillation of the episodic content model,”
“It’s an idea that we’ve already seen put to use in Team Fortress 2, which has seen a staggering 200+ updates since its release in 2007.”
“That’s what we now think is the best model for what we’ve been doing."
And there are hints for multiplayer/co-op in next HL game.
So in short they will use TF2 like updates as a solution instead of episodes, meaning that there might me dlc’ to both SP and MP parts of the game, so let’s take it … HL3 SP = 10 hours and then they will release update/dlc with another 2/3 hours … actually they will still do “episodes” but not on dvd’s but through Steam.
Gabe also said that a lot of his comments were misinterpreted, especially the one about the episodic content and the one about single player games.
In October it will be 4 years since ep2 … U really think that it would have took 4 years to finish ep3? Looks like HL3 to me … I wonder if it’s still on Source/modified Source or new engine. Hope the latter :]
They said EP3 would take longer than any other in the HL series… so yes. And yes it’s still on source.
I’m really interested in what they are doing so long … I know! Gordon now speaks so they have to find an good voice actor for him which is not an easy task … or worst case scenario, Gabe ate episode three.

Back when you were in college & you were writing up a report for a class, did your professor give you extra time to work on your assignment? I know mine have. They sure as hell didn’t tack on any extra requirements to go along with the extra time I was given, because that would have been defeating the whole point of taking extra time to begin with!

In Ep3 Gordan Freemon will kill alyx and kleiner with his gravity gun codpiece and then will ride dog back to black mesa to get beer for Barney and then use to borealis to teleport back to white forest to drink the beer because he got bored and raped dog to death on the way
