Grand Theft Auto V

Jesus Christ GTAV PC delayed again to April 14

That shit better be more polished than a bowling ball in a polishing brush factory in Poland.

Eh. For me, just means less time between when it comes out and when I have time to sink my teeth into it.
I’m sure plenty of other people are pissed off about it, but I’d prefer a bug-free game on all hardware combos over playing it now.

I’m pretty sure the Black Mesa team addressed this at some point. Having a stable and polished game is good obviously but if you really wanted to you could keep finding and smashing bugs and putting more polish on a game for forever. There’s a point where you need to accept the game as finished, especially with it being 2015 and patches being a thing. And I still think Rockstar is lying out of its ass. They’re a massive team with a giant budget. It shouldn’t take them as long as it has (there’s evidence the PC version was in development since June of 2012 I’m pretty sure the date was) to make the PC version of a game that has already been released with a PC version planned from the start. Especially since historically they’ve never really put much stock in PC as a platform after GTA2. They’re a little late to be trying to cater to PC, especially when it (according to them) is what’s causing the people they’re allegedly catering to to not be able to play the game for years after its initial release.

Black Mesa was a bug-ridden abomination of a mod and shouldn’t have ever been released in the horrible state it was in, that team is clearly in no position to be used as example. /jokes

But okay, let’s say they’re completely full of shit, and aren’t really focusing on making the game work as well as they see fit, a theory I’ll take no side on, what exactly do they have to gain by that? What could they be hiding? I’m trying to figure out the logic here. I keep hearing “Waaaah, Rockstar hates PC, they’re shit and won’t get my money I’ll just play the game without paying,” or variants of. What’s the deal exactly? Am I supposed to feel like Rockstar hates me? Should I feel lied to because they delay a release? I feel like I’m missing something big.

Or are we maybe still on the “milking consoles for as much money as possible” train? If that’s the deal, I’m still baffled by the outrage. Ya get to play it when it’s out. They can get as much money from everyone else as they want, that’s what companies do. A bit douchey, but a solid move nonetheless. Though I haven’t done any research, I have no clue how much money they’re still pulling in from this game so long after either release, or if it’s even enough that it could be worth delaying twice.

basically this proves that every time they delay/announce it for PC, console game sales rise a little (or fall slower)

I’m sure the game is still selling on consoles. Rockstar knows that if they delay the game enough people will buy the console version. They even did this with console to console with releasing it cross gen. And are you saying Rockstar is good to PC? MP3 was pretty good but that was also delayed a little bit. Before that though their PC versions were delayed months and had quite a few stupid issues on release that were never fixed. Not that they were the only console devs that had shitty ports but their previous handling of their PC versions gives me no reason to believe that they would change now of all times, especially with releasing the console version twice with no PC release to be seen. I was even going to give them the benefit of the doubt with GTAV since it was cross gen and I can see the logic (to some extent) with not releasing the “next gen” version on PC with the PS360 version but that the PC version has now been delayed, what is it, 4 times now if you include not releasing it with last gen as a delay?

“Getting to play it when it’s out” is a poor thing to say. I shouldn’t have to wait years to play a game on my platform of choice. Call it entitled if you want but I don’t think it’s too much to ask. Apparently it is for some companies though. Either through purposely doing it to milk the console money or actually needing the time to not make buggy shit. Which is fine and I admire that but Rockstar is one of the largest video game companies and should be one of the last companies that would have an issue releasing a PC version on time that isn’t buggy garbage.

Actually, judging by their track record on PC versions, I’d say they’re one of the first that’d have an issue releasing a PC version that isn’t buggy.

The way they word it makes it seem like they’ll be doing like what Capcom did for that recent RE4 release, and closely monitoring and fixing issues.

You first have to actually release the game to be able to monitor for and fix issues.

GTA V - the new Half-Life 3 of modern times.

If they actually care, and there’s still notable issues, they wouldn’t be able to escape the backlash of releasing it, quick patches or not.

yes except hl3 wasn’t released exclusive for consoles 2 years before PC

if gaben did that, there would be a functioning ps3/360/ps4/xbone emulator out by april 14

Looking god damn good

Imagine how good they could get it to look if they took another year or two to work on it.

Edit: They could reprogram the game in assembly for instance for that extra performance boost.

Are you actually crazy?

I bet Rockstar at least would understand my genius :bulb:

Aw, don’t be so bitter. :[

edit: thanks mods

I heard Rockstar might do the right thing for once and undelay the game, releasing it on March 15th
