Gordon's Feet

“Was a steel crowbar coming down at them through a corridor”

I mean, Yeah, I’d love to see his legs. It would definitely add realism.

BUT IT AIN’T GONNA 'APPEN. :freeman:

HAR HAR

Seriously though, it doesn’t matter what you guys are thinking right now. The whole of HL series Gordon didn’t have “visual” legs, but that didn’t stop people from loving it. And since now thats the way its gonna stay, live with it.

I was thinking that, besides it being the way it has always been, giving Gordon legs would mean having to code two “leg styles” (one with the scientist uniform and one with the HEV suit), and that probably would be too much of a problem for the devs, not to mention blood splatters when walking over a pool of blood, or dirt when walking around in the outdoor areas of Surface Tension.

Besides, honestly, who cares? If you want to see Gordon’s legs, to into 3rd person view. It doesn’t really affect gameplay, after all.

Did you read the OP? This thread is for discussion of legs in Episode 3, not Black Mesa.

Hah, sorry, I misread then. I apologize. But I guess my point still stands - just ignore the Black Mesa references.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

GORDOPODOPHILIA :jizz:

I find it amusing that people have been obsessed enough with it in this thread to make a wall of text post.

Honestly, what are you doing that your looking down and notice “OMG I HAS NO L3GS!!11111!”

I find it amusing that you’re obsessed enough with this thread to keep trying to troll it

Mattemusse, every day I see you cruising around accusing perfectly innocent users of trolling. I think it gets you off, because nobody in their not-kinky mind would improperly interpret the word ‘troll’ as much as yourself.

hiya guys, im new here but I just wanted to say this.
Givin him feet during episodes I think would break continuity.
Although I am for seeing feet because I think that would actualy make you feel more emerged into the game. I havent played mirrors edge but has anyone seen the DNF gameplay trailer? I think they did an awesome job at making you feel like you ARE playing as Duke. oh well just my thoughts. And yeah, I gues it was something hard to do back then in hl1, they could’ve done it in hl2, but I dunno, probably again something with the continuity. maybe they’ll do it in hl3 …

Welcome to the forums

You’re right in that it would break continuity, and that’s the most important thing for the devs.

Duke is quite different, he has a very specific character. When you play Duke, you know you’re playing as a sneering, wisecracking, badass mofo with balls of steel.

Gordon is a lot more ambiguous - it’s up to the player to imagine what Gordon is like, how he reacts to things, what he’s thinking, and so on. Leaving the feet etc out helps with that as it reinforces the point to the player that they’re supposed to use a bit of imagination.

troll:
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

You tell me, are the posts I’m responding to constructively contributing to the discussion, or are they “deliberately provocative?” The answer is pretty obvious, although you could make a case for “neither”

Finally, a well-reasoned response. I still disagree. I mean, I agree that Gordon’s personality is intentionally ambiguous and left to the players’ imagination. But Gordon’s physical appearance isn’t at all undefined whatsoever. To the contrary, as we all know its very distinct :freeman:

Yes, this is a perfect example of contributing to the discussion.

you make a good point but all i have to say is… no…(to the gordon part) and well… what is the difference btween duke and gordon… i know im playing Gordon… they call me Gordon freeman not my accual name, i want to do things but gordon does his own anyways… with Duke its the exsact same thing only… you talk… cause no matter what you imadgine you want gordon to do… he does his own thing… except talk… there have been times where i would have done something differently than gordon but i couldent since thats not the game… we all know were sapposed to be gordon… i want to feel like IM gordon and if I look down in real life i see my legs… if i look down in the game AS Gordon I want to see “MY” legs (and just incase you didnt know by saying “MY” in quotes… i mean gordons)

deja vu

Having the leg or no leg is still same as half-life and 2 to me. It will never change what i thinking.

Legs no legs what’s the difference.

One has legs, the other one doesn’t.

ok how about we cut off your legs… leg, no legs… whats the difference??? ^^

But I like my legs :frowning:
