I’m going to rent it, just to keep some vestige of hope left.
Oh really? Every few days I see a game I like the look of only to find out it’s only available for a console. Console games are horrendously overpriced and the Xbox 360 is no more than a cash cow (charging for online play and otherwise free DLCs anyone?). Why would I buy a console that does less than 1% of what a computer can do for nearly the same price?
For nearly the same price? You’re kidding, right?
Even if they were the same price, consoles are easy. For people who don’t use computers much, say kids or older folk, or maybe just people that don’t like using them, consoles are a great alternative, and they certainly don’t do the gaming world any harm. You’re simply being elitist.
If you have a problem with the Xbox 360, I assume you don’t buy any Microsoft products?
You seem to be misinterpreting, I dont hate consoles (except the X box line) or people who play them, I just hate it when they don’t release a PC version.
Now to answer some questions
I got a very good laptop for roughly the same as a lot of consoles when they’re first released. I’m not being elitist, I just don’t like paying for things that should be free and buying things I shouldn’t have to buy. And no just not an Xbox.
Why do you hate the Xbox line?
Because you expected a remake? New information for you: HLSource was never supposed to be a remake. Valve never said/announced it as a remake.
Actually I was disappointed in Half Life: Source as well. I was thinking it would be the most awesome thing evar. But I bought it and I was like “What the fuck…” and never played it again
Its 11 years old. If I play Unreal today, I would also say, this is so bad, and never play it again.
I bet you’ll play Black Mesa, when its out
For me, the worst game ever was Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for Gamecube.
MGS for Ps1 had everything! Action, drama, perfect music, a great cinematic feeling, cool story and sad moments like the death of sniper wolf… Just a perfect game!
Then I bought MGS: The Twin Snakes … i nearly died while playing it. It was so worse! They removed the original music and the voice actors sounded like they feld asleep while recording their voices! But i kept on playing because i wanted to see the end of the game and if theres something different than in MGS for Ps1.
Then i got to the scene where sniper wolf dies and i cried an ocean full of tears. But not because it was sad. They ruined the whole atmosphere! It was a crime against everything good in the life. It was horrible. I really, really, really hate this game!
Even Big Rigs appriciates me more than MGS: The Twin Snakes!
I think he’s more referring to the fact that he expected HL:S to be akin to BM, in that it’s not merely a port, but an actual remake. I was expecting the same thing, I thought that was what had taken them 6 years to make HL2, that they had also remade HL1 in Source. I was disappoint. But then again I was also 14.
GTA IV !!!
Why?
Where can I cut my hair?
Where can I put a bomb in my car?
Where can I pimp my car?
Why can’t I get fat?
Why can’t I fly planes? (OK, I know the answer to that question)
Where can I jump of high buildings with a motorcycle?
Why can’t I drive trains?
Why does this shit lag so much? (I also know the answer to that.)
And finally:
Why can’t I vomit after I have eaten 100!! Burgers?
Gotta agree with you there, Wasad.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of GTAIV either. It’s like a realist version of the previous games and just turns out kind of boring.
Here are a couple of mine.
Oblivion
This game blew me away for the first 10 minutes. The intro by Patrick Stewart, the Elder Scrolls theme in full symphony, the camera sweeping over a lush landscape while circling around the Imperial City. I was bouncing in my chair.
The character customization screen was a bit limiting, but I could deal with that. Then I hear the prisoner next to me and his horrible voice acting. Ouch, that laugh made me cringe, but okay. Then the emperor comes down the stairs I realize with horror that all the animations from Morrowind are back (The only difference being Morrowind could get away with it because it was much older and a GOOD game). I jump to test this theory. Yep, same exact animations. I realize that this physics tech they made such a big deal out of is a gimmick. Sure it’s fun to position dead enemies in naughty positions, but it’s not used for stealing, you can’t throw anything and can’t hide anything. You can’t even take the lids off boxes. Same boring inventory screen.
It just kept getting worse. Everything was the same. The enemies, the towns. There were no floating prisons or towns carved out of trees, just your typical medieval village and Oblivion. Over and over. Scamps, wolves and bandits. The game made you hate leveling, it made the game harder, not easier. Making people like you forced you to piss them off on purpose first. There were less weapon specializations. Blade weapons were condensed into 1 skill, there were even less weapons and armors in the sequel than the original, fast travel and vast areas of nothing killed the exploration experience. You were always a battle-mage. Always.
I could go on, but you get the idea. I was expecting a better game.
SL Viewer 2.0
Here’s another one I’ll be surprised if I don’t get flamed for. Bottom line is that I think Second Life is a great concept. “Let’s throw a bunch of users into a game engine and make them create the content.” Except the engine on which this is build was made in the early 90’s. The lighting system is fake, they force you to model assets in game with a primitive based system, do not allow .obj uploads, force you to use Poser -the scourge of 3D- to create animation files. Let’s not forget that the code is an absolute mess and the lag is atrocious.
We were promised an updated experience for the new millennium back in 2008. Not only did they just get it last month, it turned out to be nothing more than a GUI interface. What a load. I haven’t played in ages. I would if they’d update their decrepit engine and let us upload art assets from this generation
Quake 4
Yet another game that should have been great, but blew chunks. I admit the single player was mildly enjoyable. Oh, how sweet it was to be rolled down a conveyor belt while all your limbs were hacked off. After that amazing sequence it turned pretty dull, but not horrible.
But the Multiplayer! Dear God Almighty! id took a colorful yet gothic shooter with a sense of humor and turned it into a gray, drab, cramped experience that took itself way too seriously. Open levels were gone (at least on release). I hope you like aiming rocket launchers at a wall 5 feet in front of you. Goodbye, bunny-hopping. Nothing like slow speeds to ramp up a game that is supposed to get your adrenaline going. Here, have some horrible weapon balance. Oh look, there’s the same texture of a metal plate I’ve seen 500 times. I hope you like running around in the dark in a Quake game, because the contrast in the game made my eyes bleed.
Bad decision after bad decision. There was nothing right about Quake 4 online. At all.
I might think of some more later, gonna grab some lunch.
Mass Effect 2, although it was still a good game it just didn’t have the atmosphere that the first game had, the storyline wasn’t as good as the first game either.
I’d have to agree with you on Oblivion, but I love it nonetheless.
Two more points though:
First, I don’t think anybody here cares about Second Life, so you’re more likely to get flamed for playing it rather than bashing it. Second, why did you put the game names in quotes?
That’s what I meant when I said I expected to get flamed. The fact I admit to having played it. And I put the games names in quotes just to add a bit of order to a post that would have otherwise looked like a wall of text.
I’d suggest you either bold, italic, underline or indent, because quoted text is ignored when someone replies.
Sorry i havent been with the forums for that long , Why am i going to get banned ?
because you’re digging up threads from the past. The way past.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
