Most definitely DEUS EX !
I would like to see Unreal remade, besides the gold version. It was awesome, and if you add in the Unreal Engine 3 graphics and gameplay, people will shit their pants by the utmost purity of its total monopoly on awesomeness.
Did I mention its awesome?
Someone should go the ironic way and remake Unreal on the CryEngine 3.
Remake Quake on the Unreal engine.
Remake Crysis on the idTech 5 engine.
As a matter of fact, a group is alredy working on a Duke Nukem 3D remake -with the consent of Gearbox Software. The project is called Duke Nukem Reloaded. (https://www.dukenukemreloaded.com) It’s looking good.
That would be an interesting one. I’m definitely more keen on the idea of remaking games with great ideas that originally fell flat than I am about remaking genuinely great games that still hold up well. Trespasser never got a fair shake, I’d love to see what it could be on modern technology with some retooled game mechanics (the arm…oh god the arm…).
My point was that movies never stop being watchable, you just copy the from storage device they were on to a newer one. Games can be unplayable, because of changes in hardware & software, sometimes porting a game without emulation (which could cause legal trouble) & could be less cost-effective than recreating the game from scratch. At that point, making it with current generation sound/graphic/physics standards can be more profitable than keeping it the same as the original. Even enough to make a real sequel.
I’m not saying that I think there aren’t enough remakes out there or anything. It’s just that many people who seem revolted by the idea of remakes are only really thinking of games from the past five or so years. This is about what games deserve a remake. Fan-made or otherwise.
Yeah, they had big plans for it. It was going to be a survival horror FPS with a lot of groundbreaking features and engine way ahead of its time.
But time constraints and some other issues forced them to cut the production short and in the end came an unfinished, unpolished and very bug ridden hollow shell of what it was supposed to be.
A shame really.
It would be really awesome if some of the original creators got together, assembled a new team and finally created the game they wanted to make in the first place.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter! …oh wait…
Yeeeaaah! The gas-launcher was so much fun to use, unique from most videogame weapons! And the wide-open maps were fantastic with vehicles just strewn about…
Maxey: Yeah, it’s a shame Seamus Blackley quit game development after he designed the X-Box and made Trespasser. He was a true fucking visionary and an insanely talented programmer. He wrote a full physics engine for System Shock 1 in '93-'94. I’d LOVE to see what someone with his talent could do with modern hardware.

Dark Forces II
Halo: CE
Also, I know it only came out in 2004/5, but I would love to see a remake of CnC: Generals on the CnC 3’s SAGE Engine (as opposed to 4’s RNA engine, 'cause it was shit). One of my friends tells me about how great it was when he first played it, but when I play it now I don’t really enjoy it. There are some good mods for 3 out there, but I don’t think anyone has tried remaking Generals.
I only played the demo. What happens when you fuck romans up when Mt. Vesuvius is erupting?
Also, Resident Evil 2 with Re4 style gameplay
GTA Vice City on something better than the GTA4 engine, with expanded soundtrack
Red Faction. If I remember it was one of the first games to use Geo Mod. Good ole collateral damage.
HELL YES!
Such a good game.
You reminded me of one of my fav games ever, Turok: Evolution. I’d love a remake of that game, so fun.
Dominant Species and Carmageddon, hands down.
Oh, and Messiah.
And Drakan.
Do you remember Gunman Chronicles? That game was rock back there! I wish they could remake it in source. Oh, and they do remaking it:

System Shock
Imperium Galatica II, Dungeon Keeper, Twinsuns Oddesey and Half Life
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
