Games that deserve a remake

HOLY SHIT!!

I JUST FUCKING REMEMBERED!!!

FUCKING DARKSEED MAN!!!

Darkseed in first person. Or close third. It would be so fucking awesome, at least to look at.

Just the thought of walking through H.R. Giger’s landscapes rendered with current gen tech makes my balls tingle.

About damn time! That game was WAY underrated!

HNNNNNNNNNNG THIS.

Gunman had a really good intro, and yeah it was a very good game.

Red Faction was pretty much the first fps, where we could destroy things so badly. I really loved it, especially the monologising bosses, and the dialogues with Eos, not to mention the ending of the game.

I think Quake and Quake 2 would deserve remaking as well. We’d better not forget that the very Team Fortress had come from Quake on the first place.

This man speaketh the truth.

First time poster… long time reader of forums/watcher of the mod in anticipation (since 2005). Anyways remakes…

Tie Fighter / X-Wing Series (I think re making them for the Nintendo 3DS would be pretty awesome!)

In fact a while ago i made this to get an idea of how it could look

Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (use the new Skyrim Engine)

Ive always wanted to do an original zelda series game remake. Either zelda 1 or links awakening. In high school a number of years ago me and some buds tried to do a zelda 1 mod for HL1. But never got anywhere with it. Oh the dreams and folly’s of youth…

Morrowind has got too active a modding community to be remade. In general, games that are great thanks in large part to their modding communities would not make great remakes. (And you all know what kind of mods I’m talking about. Point out half-life and I’ll e-slap you.)

??? What are you talking about? Too active modding community? Thats like saying half life 1 had a too active modding community to do a remake… and yet here we all are.

I thought morrowind was great on its own.

Edit re read your post
/e-slap self

Wing Commander hands down. I miss the old space flight sims that seem to be so taboo now, it’s time for a Mark Hamil comeback too :stuck_out_tongue:

Siege of Avalon. Shit was epic, man.

I think that Ubisoft Reflections should remake Driver: You Are the Wheelman. It has been widely regarded as the best game in the Driver franchise and with the series reboot Driver: San Francisco set to be released between April 2011 and March 2012, I think that it would be a great opportunity to introduce new people to the franchise who haven’t played the original and don’t know the story, as well as bring back the hardcore old-school fans. B)

You better.

Half-life mods are standalone, but Morrowind mods are too integral. I would like it a lot less if it weren’t for mods that removed the endless niggles or improved the gameplay. Plus people have modded it enough that it really doesn’t need a remake.

interesting… i played through it a few times but only ever used new item mods or expansion packs to the game, blood moon and that other one that gave you a new city. But ive never seen any mods that “removed the endless niggles” or actually improved or altered gameplay… Link please?

I suppose its all down to personal preference. Although I’d start with the mod that changes plants into insta-picked items instead of containers. That one helps.

The Wing Commander Series
Homeworld
Battlezone + Battlezone 2
MechWarrior 2 + MW2: Ghost Bears Legacy + MW2: Mercenaries
Mech Commander
Descent

Starfox 64.
Battlefield 1942 (I know about 1943, but that was just a few maps)
Mirror’s Edge (Or at least a sequel, with improved gameplay)

The gameplay mods usually come bundled with graphics mods and have different options during install/setup. Google is your friend.
Considering my PC can’t even run a modded Morrowind properly I agree with the random person.

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.

Oh wait.

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall should be remade. A map the 2 times the size of England that is actually interesting to explore. I would no longer have a life ever.

I’d say some old 16 bit or 8 bit side scrolled games but I don’t feel that those games benefit much from better graphics. IMO 8bit/16bit games still look pretty alright.

But you wouldn’t have a map that is interesting to explore. Oblivion proved that randomly generated landscapes are generally a bad idea, and those were gone over by a dev.
