GameInformer predicts HL3 for 2011.

I was wondering about that myself, because the requirements for BM assumes you have a Source Game that uses the Source SDK Base, but both L4D and L4D2 has its own authoring tools.

Can you download the Source SDK Base despite only having L4D/2 or is it strictly accessable for Pre-L4D Source Games?

Calm down dude. There’s no need to be angry about any of this. This is just what people think. There’s no need to get so angry at other people who are simply stating their predictions for what the game is. Other people’s guesses are no good or better than yours.

And also the reason I said I had trouble at some parts in the Episodes in parentheses is because I knew a lot of other people most likely didn’t have that hard of the time playing it as I did at certain parts. I would also like to say that I am very insulted at being called a “whiny gamer,” and I apologize for causing any sort of confusion.

The very best part about half of these forums on this site… no matter how much complaining, unfounded advice giving, and harassing people do, any game’s release date, contents, and quality will remain unchanged. Why do people persist in doing anything more than just checking the website? I dont know.

I wish i did, since im posting here anyways.

probably because people enjoy coming here

seems to be pretty incomprehensible to most people (i wonder why)

Let me lay it out for all you Episode 3 retards here:

Episode 3 infers a mere 7+ hours of gameplay. After waiting this many years for more Half-Life…

THAT WOULD BE FUCKING DISAPPOINTING.

Half Life 3 infers 20+ hours of gameplay. After wating this many years for more Half-Life…

THAT WOULD BE FUCKING AWESOME.

Q.E.D, Valve knows the difference between an episode release, and a full game release, they realize that they have to have HL3 anyway, so, ERGO, they have combined Episode 3 into the full HL3 they have been working on for this many years, THEREFORE we are getting HL3, that is TITULAR-CORRECT in that we are getting a FULL GAME INSTEAD OF AN EPISODE.

In conclusion.

FUCK EPISODE 3.

FUCK YES HL3.

What if HL3 is as planned, a new story arc, that means no aperture, no borealis, no arctic helicopter ride, no alyx.

Why would they throw out the entire story of HL2 thus far to make up a new one? Wouldn’t they logically combine what they planned for episode 3 into a full game?

That wouldn’t happen because Valve isn’t as idiotic as you seem to imply. Why in the hell would they scrap a story they’ve let hang for four years and introduce us to a whole new story arc?

Because we have no statement from Valve apart from the fact that they are planning a whole new story arc for HL3.

It still would have to tie with the past canon of the universe.

I wouldn’t mind if HL3 finished up the HL2 storyline and then was an entire new game. They could even put some cool segue from the end of the storyline to this new one. Or they could be entirely different games. I really don’t care.

It could be the first game ever to feature an outro and intro in the middle of the game :stuck_out_tongue:

My apologies. Garfuncle takes that title and runs with it.

Oh, so this is about what you want not about something that would actually happen if you had any idea what you were talking about? Gotcha.

Please don’t use expressions you don’t understand. You didn’t demonstrate or prove anything. Even if you did, it would go at the end of your proof.

Tell me then, what is the difference? Mind you Portal was a full release & that was only 5 or so hours long. (Pro-tip: it’s a self-contained story, not length or new simple content.)

Then it would happen after they release Episode 3.

This is the general mindset of everyone who would rather see HL3. You just don’t care. (unlike valve)

Considering you took that entirely out of context.

Have to agree with Kairouseke. I have to agree, though, on some of the stuff Dias said about Garfuncle. Garfuncle, you really shouldn’t make assumptions like that with the title. Knowing Valve, whatever they decided to name the game will in no way effect the plot.

Though Dias, you seem to be taking a lot of what people say out of proportion. I too really don’t care what the next game is called as long as it continues the plot from where it left off in Episode 2 (unless they change the name to something REALLY retarded, but I trust Valve wouldn’t do that).

Though one thing I think should be made known is that there’s a 99.999% chance that it will continue the the story where it left off. While I’m open to the idea that it might be something completely different, I have yet to see any hard evidence of this. Hell, there’s barely any hard evidence of the game period, only that a Half Life game is being developed that’s exact name isn’t even public.

I say April, thats when it will be announced, but we wont have any information on it until E3

I still think it’s a possibility that Episode 3 could end up being only about 3 hours or so long and given out free. It would basically be to build up hype for Half Life 3, and to conclude the story for Half Life 2 satisfyingly. This is assuming Half Life 3 is being developed and isn’t too far out.

This is just an idea though and quite probably wrong, just stating that before Dias gets annoyed with me.

Not happening.

I could have quoted your entire post & it still would have meant the same: You just don’t care about the plot.

It’s not so much the name as it is the plot concerns me. Most of the people begging for HL3 seem more than happy to push the story aside if it means they would get a few new guns & enemies to toy with. Whether it means ignoring the plot thus far or trying to ham-handedly squeeze it in out as the opening to a whole other game.

Here’s some evidence of it’s development: there are about 5 info_node_hint entities in the Alien Swarm sdk with an EP3 prefix that doesn’t reference anything in the actual alien swarm code. The advisor AI has been updated with Episode 2 & makes reference to prop-throwing attacks to be used against the player. (One of the commentaries in EP2 even said that that episode largely served as a build up for when the player finally gets to fight them in Episode 3)

Am I the only one who is really liking this slowpokes guy? If these forums had rep, I would give one to every one of his posts.

Just because they call it Episode 3 doesn’t mean it can’t be long. They could use the name so that way the title makes it seem like it’s still the HL2 story and have a lengthy part for getting to the Borealis and defeating the combine.
