What I’m expecting is maybe a Gluon Rifle, like in Red Faction Guerilla.
And maybe some sort of electric weapon.

Personally, I doubt it. Valve has a habit of leaving a gajillion of unanswered questions in their games. We’ll probably see some epic scene with him in Ep. 3 if the Vorts let their guard down again…

I think Valve will release a good chunk of information about him, but not enough so we know exactly what or who he is.
Then again, that is why we love him…because we don’t know who the hell he is…thats what makes him epic.
I suppose if they released everything about him…wouldn’t be as fun…ya’know?

I think it’s possible we may get to use the Combine sniper rifle. It’s sort of a logical progression: first the enemy uses it, then a friend uses it, then we actually get to see it in an inactive state, now it makes sense that we may finally get to use it in the finale episode. Also, Valve tends to be bringing back some of the beta content, and I think the sniper rifle was originally intended to be usable.
(I’m not suggesting we’ll actually be able to pick it up and carry it with us, but it could be used mounted like the mounted suppressor guns.)
I don’t know about new weapons, but maybe another tool-like item such as the pherapod in HL2 (which was noticeably absent in the episodes). And i hope there’s a chance to use some sort of new mounted defense weapon for another siege scenario.

Yeah, they are aware of his existence… but I’m not sure how much they know about him. They released Freeman because he’s their best hope against the Combine.
