maybe these characters will tell us who he is-
G-man himself,
the employers
Eli’s ghost,
vortigaunts,
the combine,
Alyx(?),
Father Grigori
I don’t think Valve is ever gonna reveal the G-Man’s true nature. Because I’m afraid that if they do, it will disappoint lots of the fans of the franchise. I mean, I’d rather like him to remain mystical rather than discovering what he actually is (though I’m pretty sure he’s not human).
Theres already a G-Man thread (or maybe not just one) and also a thread about the probable episode 3 or half-life 3.
[COLOR=‘Lime’]Merged Superbanjo64’s Thread with this one.
I think it will eventually come out, but just like everything else in the series it will take a long time to fully reveal. And even then a lot will still probably be up to speculation or interpretation of vague statements (again, like everything else). IMO, the way things have been going, I think Episode 3 will be the setup for HL3, which will be the climax of the series and answer most of the important questions. In any case, I think Episode 3 will tell us a lot about where the series will go.
Also,
“Something secret steers us both. We shall not name it.”
From the Vorts. Seems they know about him/it/them but how much they know is not certain. Eli definitely seemed to know something about G-Man but now we may never know what he was going to tell Gordon. Damn Alyx, can’t you take a hint and just, like, take an hour to make his tea?!?!
i wish the “Gman secret” will keep going until atleast half life 3!
i dont wanna know about him too soon!
The G-Man is Gordon. Duh.
Get the fuck out of my internet. It is a saying meant for situations like this
Excuse me, your internet?
When the vorts state in HL2: “We serve the same mystery”.
It gets you thinking that the Vorts might in fact be the ones who help you find out.
If it is my computer it is my internet. Yes I realize how illegitimate that statement was
The truth is, NOBODY knows who the G-Man is. Not even Gabe Newell, not even Marc Laidlaw, nobody at Valve knows. NOBODY! His identity will probably never be revealed as intended by the writer(s). The story of Half-Life is literally being written as it goes on. This includes the identity of the G-Man.

I hope that, at the end of Ep3, Gman transforms into a grotesque alien creature (The Thing-style) and you have to combat him as the final boss.
They could set it up like the end of HL1 where you’re on a tram in space, and you’re expecting him to give you some kind of choice to work with him again, but then he just freaks the fuck out and starts trying to eat you. \m/ \m/
Ahh, and you know everything. I’m sure to say they at least know MILES and MILES more than us.
^no.
Even Marc Laidlaw admitted that valve knows almost nothing about the gman, thats why he is so mysterious
In Ep 3 I think health packs should be replaced by frozen porkchop sandwiches.
:retard:
In all seriousness though I would very much like to see less linear progression through the story. And by that I don’t mean just more open levels like Ep 2, I mean legitimately more exploration, more routes through the game, and more room to gallop.
And if they’re going to make it linear, they should at least do what they did for HL1 and show us the direct path but make it impossible to reach so we need to take the alternative path.
They did that in Ep 2 with the Hunter battle at White Forest, but it was scaled down from the lengths these alternative routes were in HL1. It was a style I really liked and that worked, and while they didn’t totally abandon it, I hope they bring it back in its original large, chapter-encompassing scale.
Episode 3 is NOT the last Gordon Freeman game. If they revealed G-Man’s identity in Episode 3 the sequels would not be as fun to play.

I wouldn’t bet on that.
I not sure if this has been mentioned before, however, I would love to see this happen in the next installment.
Everyone knows that GLaDOS survived the incident in Portal right? Well, what if she is on The Borealis in some shape or form? Gordon Freeman used to be a Black Mesa employee and I’m sure Aperture Science got information on the workers there since the two companies were bitter rivals.
And now he’s on his way to the ship wearing a suit that brands the Black Mesa logo on it.
What would happen? Would she go nuts? Trick him? I’d love to see this confrontation.
Even if it’s brief.
