The source engine can kill a zombie, and spawn a headcrab, I see no reason why it couldn’t spawn a zombie if a headcrab lands on top of a person. It would look like ass, or take forever to “mutate”, but it could be done.
Yeah, that would be good, such as using a simple collision thing, when the headcrab touches a person, trigger animation, then I guess there could be another animation of the person falling on the floor, and then being replaced as a zombie, of course, you’d need the models to look the same. And maybe a ribcage burst and finger extension animation could somehow be incorporated as well.
“ribcage burst and finger extension animation” all within a matter of seconds would look silly, but could be done. Although, more likely then not you’d have killed the headcrab before the person could get up from the ground.
Valve could do some epicly nostalgic shit with the Gman at the conclusion of Episode Three by placing him right before Gordon Freeman makes his final decision…
Time Pauses Gman materializes in front of Gordan just before giving the options of destorying Borealis or allowing Xen’s portal to become dangerously large *Gman adjusts his tie, deeply inhales awkwardly, and says, “Time To Choose.”
“nostalgic shit” is a pretty fitting choice of words, seeing as how that’s just a big lazy rehash of the first ending.
If Valve has taken now 3 years to put together Ep3, compared to 1-2 years each for the other episodes, then it must be at least as long as maybe the old HL2 beta, whose much content left is inherited to Ep3.
Obviously, they’ve kept it quiet because they wanted the creative freedom like they did in HL2 before the leak (and we know who to blame for that). Most of this stuff may not even be noticed by Valve and your dreams of these would be very shattered. Also, they probably wanted a good trailer unlike Ep2 where about half the content wasn’t in the final game.
Also, I don’t know what the big deal is with the issues of zombification sigh
It would be funny if ep3 actually gets leaked and turns out similar to the hl2 beta…

Apparently a new character may be in Episode 3 that is a deaf character.
Old news though.
But before it was rumours, and now it’s starting to be true.
I think that the crowbar will probably be found after the possible crash of the helicopter…
things I expect
- Water/Cloth sim…
[list]
[*]it is not like that is a novel idea; There are bound to be massive ice/ocean simulations.
[/:m]
[]Deforming Terran…
- they teased that by showing a crater created by an advisor pod crash. You know they can’t show that happening in game with the current engine. Also, not a novel idea.
[/:m]
[]A better (mostly vertex based) realtime ambient occlusion/diffuse reflection model…
- SSOA tends to look fugly…
[/:m]
[]Blending/Stenciling of radiosity light maps… (dim-able lights/shadows dancing from flames/opening door into an unlit room)
- anime background artist have been “blending lightmaps” for decades

That would be great, if such a character is going to be included.
The G-man seems to have been interested in Alyx like with Gordon and Shephard, maybe either Ep3 or an expansion pack would have you play as Alyx
Nooo
Sigh Will the waiting ever end? :fffuuu:
Absolutely fucking not. There is no way that Valve’s ever gonna make Alyx a playable character.
What do you mean?
Well, no they aren’t, but it’s not that horrible of an idea. Or are you just one of those morons who hate Alyx for no good reason?
Max Payne 2 did something similar. It was fun for what it was, but I am glad that Valve avoided doing the same, especially after the PC Gamer UK joke. The theme of Half-Life is never ever ever leaving the protagonist’s eyes.
Like me!
Of course, because Opposing Force and Blue Shift never happened, right?
Now if you’re just saying you would never leave the eyes of whoever you BEGIN playing as, then I agree with you. But I wouldn’t completely dismiss the possibility of having a dedicated game or episode where you play as Alyx.
