I think there will be some sort of cremation or something dramatic to send off Eli’s body. They wouldn’t just leave him.
It wouldn’t make much sense to have a scene of a big burial in the middle of the game; that would be really boring. Although, I expect they’ll make some kind of reference to it.

It could be in the start and you witness the end of it, so it doesn’t take up too much time.

my idea: Eli gets cremated and his ashes scattered from the helicopter, you reach the borealis and get to the advanced and dangerous portal technology which eli says is there in ep 2 then you blow it up but it sends you back in time (cause its an ADVANCED portal thingy) right outside the room where eli is about to recieve the sample which causes the resonance cascade from the g-man but you run in and shoot the g-man; he falls dying and says “and so it ends…” then a green-ish resonance like ripple eminates throughout the facility and you are knocked unconcious. you wake up in a black mesa hospital where eli is standing he then says “our mutual friend is no-more”. as the screen fades out alyx and her mother: who dies in the black mesa incident but doesnt because you prevented it walk over to where you are lying. Eli hugs his wife and alyx gives a short smile; completely unaware of what just happened. credit screen…epic…

and they’d bscly kill the game because if you prevent the cascade there would be no consequences and therefore none of the events in half life would’ve happened
No offense, but time-travel/paradox plot devises wouldn’t fit in very well, imho. I suppose it works ok for games like Red Alert, but that game was pretty campy to begin with. Besides, an ending like that would make me feel like “WTF? I did all that shit for nothing since it obviously doesn’t happen now?” (disegarding the whole paradox thing).

yeah no shit sorry i want all full-house on you and as i said a few pages back - aperture were developing local teleportation devices so im not very sure if there’d be another super portal opened in EP3 at all …
doesnt Eli say something like “aperture tried to develop stuff faster than black mesa resulting in dangerous and unstable technology” then something about an extremely important thingy in the borealis which im going to assume is a portal thingy because unlike black mesa aperture only makes one category of technology; portal technology, then again theres quite a large section of aperture the player never got to see in portal…
nope , aperture and black mesa developed parallel projects and the government decided to fund black mesa and aperture got dropped out , Eli also doesnt mention anything about what tech in particular there is iirc , he just doesnt want to take chances and tells Gordon to destroy the borealis , Kleiner mentions that the ship must be full of valuable equipment and that’s why he wants it to be salvaged but i dont think he mentions anything in particular either
