eli says that if the combine get the ship it will be like the seven hour war all over again. Big portals
damn , guess i havent played it in a while , the way i remembered it he just didnt want to take any chances and just said he wanted it destroyed , well thanks for clearing that up
:s poiler:
Episode3 will start with GMan telling Gordon that his voice-box that he ordered before even HL-1 finally arrived and he can talk again.
Than gordon will FINALLY walk a bit, take a voice box andā¦ unforeseen consequences of some sort happens again, teleporting voicebox directly to Xen. Gordon will get pissed, take his crowbar and will never speak of it again. You know. He canāt. Really.
The story will continue, with the help of gman and vortigaunt in HEV suits. Gordonās suit will get upgraded with duracell batteris, so fleshlā¦ flashlight will no longer drain oxygen out of Gordonās lungs!
Thatās what is expected of episode 3 I guess.
As for minor thingsā¦ There will be a MAJOR upgrade of source engine and for 99% Black Mesa project will start from 0, but be honest with yourself. You donāt REALLY wanāt to see BM finished, you want to dream of it
But no, seriously, If Black Mesa comes out BEFORE episode 3 it will be taken down by Valve. COME ON! WE ALL KNOW itās going to be WAY better than actual episode 3, they will never let that happen Might be that BM is already ready for months, but Valve is paying to delay the project so they could sell at least few copies of EP3 before it comes out!
Edit:
BTW Thatās all the components to build your own HEV. Find some hazard (easy enough), some environment (might be hard, have to go out of house Iām afraid) and a suit. Anything that is orange or similar highly useful! Last part, find some lambdas, Iām sure plenty of those laying around (look under the table, really). Or buy COLLECTORS EPISODE 3 edition, there will be HEV included free (and here you were thinking tat crap was unrelated huh?)
Edit2: Ummm, before someone asks, yes. I am joking.
Before somene else asksā¦ yes. I am not good at joking.
Before anyone aksā¦ No, I donāt care. Though I donāt really like cats. Live with it.
āa man-sized ad-hoc quantum tunnel through physical space with possible applications as a shower curtainā is what they started with and then a whole ship and part of the dock sized portal is what they ended with
I had gotten over polish jokes when I was 11 but after the above post I might feel inclined to revisit some
hm , that is a very productive way to create super portals ā¦ do you know any other ways of fabric molding using crap thatās lying around ? :retard:
They never state what makes the portals, just the side benefit of also being a shower curtain
very convenient nontheless
They left the hundreds (if not thousands) of other resistance fighters who died during the uprising and its aftermath. True, Eliās a more key member of the resistance, but I donāt think he would have wanted them to spend time giving him a funeral when they could be working to defeat the Combine. Thereād be time for that once everythingās sorted out.
Iād think everyone at White Forest whose body they could salvage enough of to bury would get a proper funeral after the attack is over.
Going back in time and preventing the RC would really kill the whole thing, itās a desperate and unrealistic ending. Also, a time paradox would be caused and Gordon would die.
But another Resonance Cascade with super portals seems likely, maybe even with different species of enemies.
As much as I donāt want it I half expect there to be time travel involved, Iām not imaginative enought to think of a better way to kill off the combine.
No time travel, no shep
He never says anything about portals in regards to the Borealis.
That seems unlikely because it just sounds lazy and redundant. I sincerely doubt that theyād use such a cheap cop-out. Time travel might also seem unoriginal, but then again very little in Half-Life is really that original, itās more about combining these ideas seamlessly in a well executed manner.
Time alteration is important in Half-Lifeās plot & themes.
- Gordon disappearing for 10-20 years.
- The one-week slow teleport.
- The Gmanās sudden mysterious appearance & disappearances.
- Gman freezing time at the end of HL2 & the vortigaunts interference.
- HL is full of conspiracy theory references & The Borealisā story mimics the Philadelphia Experiment.
- Ignoring safety/standards of risk & tampering with/abusing powerful forces.
The general story & personal motivations.
- Alyx could see it as a means of being with Eli again.
- The resonance cascade itās self could be undone.
- The Combine could undo the uprising, and guarantee victory in any war.
- Could guarantee Humanity victory in any war. Even overthrowing the Combine.
- Is flexible & would allow for dozens of possible ways to continue the story, not writing themselves into a corner.
If anyoneās got a better idea with better explanations Iād love to hear it.
Gordon beats everyone to death with a crowbar. THE END
While this is literally true, the statement about it being like the seven hour war all over again if the combine get a hold of it, the fact that they just closed a super portal, and what ever made the borealis disappear was big enough to envelop an icebreaker sized ship and part of its dry dock, i find it fairly safe to infer that the borealis contains the means to generate a very large inter-dimensional portal. Large enough to bring an unstoppable combine force through. It could also be teleport tech similar to what was being worked on at nova prospect. But we shall see, cuz valve is cool.
While time travel has been a prominent feature in the story, it has always moved forward. Gordon disappearing, slow teleport, or the gman slowing time. I agree that is adds lots of flexibility and wiggle room for a story but it also seems like a cheap solution. Undoing alyxās tragedy and all the damage done to earth with a hat trick would leave me disappointed. A trip to combine home world for a big battle a la xen seems like a possibility. Advisor battle, stasis by the gman? Maybe a battle with glados? And, all the tragedy and suffering would remain intact to preserve the dim tone of the game.
Dias, now that you mention it like that, it does sound like a possible ending.
Although, they said that Episode 3 would not be the last game in the Half Life series, so how would reversing everything bring a new story?
Apart from the fact that the Gman will be incredibly pissed off with Gordon, because he can probably tell when time travel has happened.
wait.! at the beginning of the HL2 we saw the test chamber. But i think G-man only has this power (and his employers)
Yeah, we saw it, doesnāt mean we were actually there.
Not to mention it would explain the disappearance/reappearance of the Borealis (edit: read about the philadelphia experiment, agreeing with the similarity). A time portal technology is a plausible theory.
On a related note, a time portal gun would be a disaster to code (and explain) properly but oh god the thought of it
bah you are right. He always takes us places
