Engie Update?

I think TF2 is slowly going down the drain with all the hats, radom drops and useless items that everyone wants because somebody else has it. Soon the community will be a copy of CS’s community. Or at least similar.

Come on, be honest now. You’re just jealous because you have crafted your entire backpack away and still don’t have a golden wrench.

Personally, I think it’s amazing that Valve updates their games with new content every now and then. I think it’s awesome to see a diverse range of different hats and accessoires spread out over the Team Fortress 2 community. Not to mention all the cool (albeit sometimes somewhat strange) weapons to choose from. This brings a lot of diversity to the game.

Also, if you’re really bothered by the poeple hunting for golden wrenches and such, you’re lucky that it’s not that hard to ignore them. After all, you don’t have to read threads like this, you don’t have to look at the wrenchlog, …

So a community that plays for vanity items is the same as a community that plays to be the best pwner of the world?

You’re probably right. Soon, the TF2 community will be spammed by 1337z0rz that are blaming the other one of hacking because he has a shiny hat.

Similar as in shitty.

Wrangler = FUCKING AWESOME.

I like how you never have any idea what you’re talking about, it’s entertaining in a troll-ish way.

Please explain how I never have any idea what I’m talking about.

It’s not the stuff, it’s how to community acts. Currently, a large part of the community is whining about how they don’t have any hats, and how the drop system is bad ( I agree on that one, TBH). Not all of them, but the majority does. A good online game with a bad community is nothing but trash to me.

If they want diversity, they should give hats to all, as well as making the weapons unlockable via achievements so they have to earn them.

And I haven’t connected to steam for ages.

PS: I do read this thread but only for stuff about the engie update. I don’t read the wrenchlog at all.

If achievements was the only way to get new weapons, the crafting system would be useless, seeing as you would run out of stuff to craft pretty fast.

We never said you don’t get random drops. From what I’ve experienced, random drops are more frequent if you have the achievement that normally gives you that item. I might be wrong though, that’s just what it seems like from my personal experience.

On the other hand, there wouldn’t be a need for crafting systems because everybody would have hats and weapons would be relatively easy to unlock.

it’s okay, I’ve owned it since the beta and have been dead bored with it since before they added hats. I’ll give it a brief try to check out the class updates, but honestly it’s about time for TF3 (which is going to be an MMO with vehicle combat)

Hell yeah. In TF3 you ARE a vehicle. The Heavy class is a monster truck, the Scout class is a ferrari and the Medic class is an ambulance. Oh, and the Demoman will be a tank.

:awesome:

IGNORE THIS, ACCIDENTAL DOUBLE POST :stuck_out_tongue: .

nonononono, The HEAVY would be tank with a Gau-9, The Scout would be a Ford Mustang, the Medic would be a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ambulance with a bunch of Roof Props, the Demoman would be a modified armored Vehicle, the Soldier would be a PUMA assault Vehicle with mounted Rocket Launcher, The Sniper would be a Jeep Wrangler with a Railgun on top, The engie would be a Jeep Willys, and the spy would be a Lambourghini with an advanced cloaking system.

How on Earth is TF2 moving towards CS? There is no connection.

More like CS becoming TF2, with killcams and achievements and such.

In terms of quality.

Personally I think TF2 is getting better, if these updates continue we’ll never be bored with TF2 because we’ll always have something new.

I have yet to have a problem with the community in game any more than any other online game. Most people playing it aren’t hat obsessed.

Agreed, I love TF2.

As for the community being crappy, I think it just depends on who you’re playing with and what forums you read. Sometimes I run into a bunch of assholes on a server, so I just leave and go to another one and it’s perfectly fine and everyone is polite and having fun.

TBH, though, I can’t think of one online game where there wasn’t at least some small amount of idiots and asshats in the community. You can’t run from them. Jerks like to buy all sorts of games too. You just have to know how to deal with them.

Im sure we all remember the glory days of CS beta up til 1.6 and TFC, but now both are very popular. Dont let the relatively small number of assholes ruin it for you. Orpheon is correct, there are a lot of servers to choose from. I play both CS and TF2 and rarely run into all these douchebags whom Mr.Shadow allows to rule his gaming destiny.

What exactly do you mean by “quality”? That’s a pretty vague description.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
