Engie Update?

So… Another new map called Hightower and a new melee weapon from the custom community (scroll down to the desk, notice the fancy new wrench tagged with the name of the guy that made it?).

Was kinda hoping to get a sentry/dispenser today, and then the other one (sentry/dispenser) the other day… Guess we’re only getting one, and I fear it’s going to be a dispenser, so no fancy new type of sentry :’(

Well this is interesting at least.

I wonder what the drawbacks of being able to move your sentry gun around will be…

200 metal per move? no shotgun? no dispenser?

By the looks of it: maximum level 2?

that’s what I’d guess. 200 metal is way too easy to get, and not having a dispenser or shotgun leaves everyone in crappy situations (no health for other people, only pistol + melee as defense for engie)

Max level 2 is a good balance, sacrifice rockets for mobility.

Or, alternatively, you can have attack sentries. I have to say I like the idea of a more offensive engineer. Could be more fun.

Meh mini sentry sounds pretty lame  level 1 sentry that does half the dmg of a normal one (which was already shit to begin with)

its useless apparently. but I was told you can’t upgrade it?

Considering that screenshot is right in front of a spawn, I’d guess that Kane got the gloves, put a mini sentry, went to the spawn and grabbed the wrench and upgraded it.

Apparently the mini sentry is pretty useful when there’s large fights going on and get some quick kills in the confusion + get crits with the Frontier this way. Also, when the sentry dies, you get some more crits with the frontier. This is for offensive engineers apparently, though I doubt it’s success once people are familiar with the Engineer changes and kill the sentry/Engy before it become useful.

You can’t upgrade mini-sentries, and as far as I know that sort of glitch doesn’t exist. There is, however, a glitch where a mini-sentry appears as a small red level 3 sentry. Must be some sort of model mix-up.

Mini-sentries set up really fast and can throw your enemies off, giving them two targets shooting at them to deal with. Plus it’s quite good for assists and a quick area denial. Mostly for offensive engies, which is why you get +25 health with the Gunslinger.

Anything can be moved now. Level 1-3, any type of building, can be picked up and moved. Sets up faster than first time. The drawback is you run slower while carrying a pre-built building.

People are saying Wrangler is OP, so that may need to be balanced. I’m not certain myself because I haven’t gotten it yet, but it does seem like it doesn’t have enough drawbacks to balance out it’s strengths.

Frontier Justice is cool too. I was worried it would be OP but it seems to be pretty balanced. Works well with the Gunslinger, because your sentries go up quick, get a few assists/kills, go down, and then you have crits to shoot. And if you want the crits right away you can just blow up your sentry and you won’t feel bad because it was cheap and fast to build anyway.

Gunslinger = :awesome:

[COLOR=‘Red’]The Engieneer update is annoying anymore. You can’t play, 'cause there are 22 engies, 1 scout, 2 snipers and 1 spy. The only solution is playing on servers with restrictions (max 3 engies, spies, scouts etc.)
P.S.
If you want, you can watch my gameplay from doublecross. I wanted to show you how annoying can be 25 (for example) engies in one map. Here you are.

It’s not like it has changed anything.

PS: It’s capture the flag >_>

yep, got all my engineer new weapons now i can wait for it to die down a bit.

Die down? There’s just as much engies as before.

Standard Demoman, Soldier with Direct Hit or even one spy solve “11 engineers in one team” problem. It’s quite fun acctually, set 8 bombs around and blow 4 and more sentries and dispensers at the same time. A lot of frags! Yummy!

Its gonna be months before i can use my gaming pc again, i do hope everything has died down by then :3

Couple of us where playing demoman and kicked ass.

Later on, it was just me as a medic, a buddy as a demo, and Dan as an engi kicking ass in cp maps.
