Engie Update?

I think it’s random, judging from how Valve words it on the blog:

"Those of you who spent the weekend Tokyo drift-racing your way to a rap battle—or whatever it is people do when they go outside on the weekend—probably feel pretty good about yourselves right now. At the end of the day, though, what do you have to show for it? Vague memories of changing lanes. Twenty-five of the people who wisely chose to stay home and craft items, on the other hand, now have shiny new ultra-rare golden wrenches that they can keep. For a weekend? No. For a lifetime. Eat it, drift-racers. Eat all of it.

Luckily for you wrenchless unfortunates, there’s still time to get one. A further 75 golden wrenches can be found through crafting all this week*. We’ll also be teasing Engie’s new weapons (the first of which, the revenge-critting Frontier Justice, is currently on display)—with all of this culminating in the long-awaited Engineer Update this Thursday!**

*Note that we’ve disabled the Smelt Reclaimed Metal & Smelt Refined Metal recipes. They’ll work again once the Engineer Update goes live.

**Also note, wrenches can be found up until the 100th wrench has gone out. There is no per-day limit on the number of wrenches found, and distribution has been designed to be fair to all timezones. Every 25th wrench found will result in the release of more information on the Engineer Update. "

TF2 is going down WoW’s road. Soon they’ll be mandated by the government to reduce the benefits of playing 24/7.

And seriously? Intentionally messing up normal crafting just so that a certain update can go through for a select 100 people as they like?

There may be something more to their messing up the crafting. Who knows?

Maybe those 100 gold wrench’s can craft ep3 :laughs:

It’s so you can’t exploit crafting; if the golden wrench is obtained via crafting, it’s disabled so that you can’t downgrade your higher grade metal and then recombine it to get a successful craft attempt.

Frontier Justice looks stupid.

I already crafted all my stuff away and it looks like I’ve already gotten all my items for this week, so I guess no wrench for me :frowning:

Frontier Justice looks pretty good IMO. In fact, storing crits like that almost seems OP to me, but the small clip size may make up for it. Also, given that your sentry has to go down before you get the crits, you’ll probably be in a bad situation anyway, so you probably won’t get to use all of them anyway. I’ll use it though. Every engy knows the pain of your creations dying, so a little help with revenge is welcome.

cocks Frontier Justice
I AM FUELED WITH RAGE OF MY CREATIONS DYING. Then I bum rush the enemy.

Radigan Conagher, Dell Conagher (Engie)'s grandfather, holding the Frontier Justice. Apparently it was one of the weapons in the plans that Blutarch gave to Dell after digging them out of Radigan’s grave.

Same here, they should have just turned up the item drops to give everyone a shot at getting a wrench!

Anyone Notice on the “day one” page the photograph that looks Amazingly similar to the Meet the Team Lineup (and Successive parodies thereof)?

uhh that’s the point :hmph:

Anyone know any good websites that actually explains the crafting concept in detail? I just started playing recently and dont understand the technicalities of pickups and crafting. Ive logged about 50 hours but have only had the opportunity to craft scrap metal twice (two nataschas and two huntsman bows) and I never find scrap metal in the map. It seems like I will play for days and never pick anything up.

What determines pick up rate and what blueprints can you find?

Well, I can tell you right now you will never find metal in drops, you only craft it. Anyways, this site explains crafting and gives you all the blueprints for the game.

I never get pickups though, how the hell am I supposed to craft when I never pick anything up? Is there some trick to getting pickups?

No, it’s all randomly generated.

Just don’t worry and play the game. All the important stuff can be gotten through achievements.

And that’s 50… Wrangler eh? The shield helpful; but my fps means letting the sentry do it’s own thing is the only viable method of gameplay…

With the increased fire rate it sounds pretty helpful.

Well they upped the item cap for this week, time to play some more!
