Dishonored

Played for a couple hours and this game is fantastic. I just wish there was a way to holster the gun and only have your sword out and holster all weapons at will. If there is I can’t find out how to.

Yeah that bugs me a little too, oddly. I’m invested enough in this world that I feel like walking up to someone with a sword and musket pointed at them is ever so slightly immersion breaking.

Still, the game is absolutely fantastic. I’ve been playing it like Thief, and it responds in kind, but the few times I cracked some skulls, it felt equally valid. That is a tough fucking thing to pull off and kudos to Arkane for doing it.

I actually looked through the manual and apparently holding F (use key) while not pointing at a body or anything should holster your weapon. I haven’t tried it though.

Yeah this game is amazing, I can’t stop playing. I really don’t want it to end! They really weren’t lying about the multiple possible scenarios to finish missions, and the exploration. Blink is awesome.

By the way, to holster weapons you hold F for 2 seconds.
Don’t forget to hold the heart and right click on people/buildings to hear additional info.

It’s actually better than I’ve anticipated. The fights are satisfying, the abilities and weapons are fun to use and you can walk like everywhere.

I just want to play it already but my Steam keys haven’t arrived yet. First world problems :frowning:

Holster Your Weapon = Hold down F. Or whatever you have your “use” key binded to.

I’m looking forward to playing through it again for the “Mostly Flesh and Steel” achievement. Basically, beat the game, but ONLY invest in blink. None of the other abilities >: D I’m gonna try for the undetected / no kills challenges too. Should be hella fun lol

I can’t wait to get home and play it, seems to be pretty good from what I’m seeing and hearing.

Playing it with the UI off is hard x.x

Why would you turn the UI off, then? It looks really simple and nonintrusive from the screenshots I’ve seen so far.

There are bigass quest markers that gimp the exploration and giant markers that float over the guards heads when they detect you. I’ve been enjoying the game a lot more with both of those turned off.

Can’t you turn off the quest markers individually?

The only UI I have on is the health and mana bars contextual, the guards’ alert things, and quest popups (telling you what you need to do when you first get the quest, not the marker that tells you exactly where to go).

Yeah. Like I said, I have the part where it tells you what you need to do but have the marker that shows you exactly where to go off.

Not being told explicitly where to go is what made Half Life (2) so fun.

Why would I exempt myself from that funness when I have the option to have that in an awesome stealth game? I just wander and pay attention and use my mind instead of blindly following a marker cuz the game told me so.

That sounds like a good idea I’m going to turn my quest markers off as well.

I don’t know what the hell some people are talking about. I just finished the first assassination and I already have 5 hours clocked in the game. I didn’t even explore the entire level either, it was massive. So unless the levels keep getting shorter, which I doubt, this game is going to last me for quite some time.

Fucking CJ’s CD Keys, last time I’m using them. Still haven’t received my keys from the supposedly ‘instant’ key delivery system.

Yeah, after playing the game, it makes no sense. That stuff was clearly said by people who do nothing but easy difficulty speed running.

They get astronomically bigger.

TURN OFF YOUR UI BRO.

That’s actually a good idea. I especially hated the “choking bar”.
