Dishonored

I don’t usually buy games, infact, to be honest, this particuliar game “Dishonored” in terms of just gameplay doesnt really interest me at all. Though I have read that its meant to be very innovative and open like the original Deus-Ex.

But the reason Ill be buying it is for the art direction, it is soooooo good. Anyone else psyched for the game?

I’m kind of a big fan of this style of game.

Preordered it months ago.

I probably won’t preorder it but it does look really good.

I’m all over it! Had it pre-ordered for some time now.

Kind of stupid but shouldn’t really affect the game too much for people who want to explore and find every solution.

"They didn’t even go upstairs because a guard told them they couldn’t. They’d say ‘Okay, I can’t go upstairs.’ They wouldn’t do anything,” explained Arkane’s Julien Roby

Goes to show much damage hand holding and linear game design done. We’ve been conditioned to follow the rules, I bet a non gamer wouldnt have these problems

Yeah…that’s a shame.

I strongly believe in playtesting, but I feel like you can’t rely on it as much with these kinds of games because you end up piling on the derp until the game becomes something else entirely. See also “big fucking arrow” in Bioshock.

Discounting Half-Life, when have the ‘guards’ in games ever been anything but an enemy? Why would you listen to an enemy?

And shouldn’t being told “you can’t go upstairs” make you want to go upstairs?
I hope there’s not too much handholding added due to this.

Yes, because Viktor Antonov is the Art Director. He was also the Art Director for Half Life 2.

Oh yeah. I’ve seen some of his original steampunk HL2 concept art, it’s amazing.

Sebastien Mitton is the art director, but Antonov is on the art team, yes.

Oh well, my fault then. I just recognize a lot of his work, so I instantly thought that he is the leading guy.

Like I said in the Halo 4 thread; I’d be really excited about this game but for the fact that my computer likely won’t be able to run it very well and I likely won’t be able to afford it.

Wait, that’s what you meant? Halo 4 is a 360 exclusive…

Oh, it is?

Bah humbug.

You seriously thought a Halo game was going to come out on PC after 2005?

I just… I can’t…

Alright, back do dishonored. Speaking of platforms, any word on PC exclusive features yet?

I wouldn’t know. I’ve never played or followed any of the Halo games.

It’s the Xbox’s Mario. Alright. Dishonored.

Looks very dark and steampunk. I’ve always been more partial to dieselpunk myself, but this game still looks fascinating.

Hopefully the devs know what they’re doing.

Considering that Dark Messiah was fucking good, I have no doubt that the game will be good.
