THE WHISTLING GUARDS

THE THIEF FLASHBACKS

“That’s stupid! People to worry-about-dey’re on the Inside!”

“No, then you catch them before they get inside, you taffer!”

“Ooooh.”

“I’m goin’ to the bear pits t’morra, you wanna come with?”

Also, look at those fucking levels. Big, open spaces, natural cover areas, and tons and tons of detail. You can tell that these level designers actually understand this kind of game. It’s almost weird seeing something like this in a game now.

It does look really good. I’m trying to decide between preording this, AC3, and Hitman Absolution. The only thing is that this is $60 and the other two are $50  . This looks like it’ll be better than Hitman Absolution though so I’ll probably end up with AC3 and this.

I’ve been hearing recently that this game was made with PC in mind but I’m not sure how true that is. I’m glad that this is having the large open levels that the first two Thief games had though. I don’t know if they’ll be as large but they look like they have quite a few places to explore within each level and you don’t have to go directly to the assassination.

Edit: Found a coupon for Greenmangaming for $45. There ya go.

Nice, thanks for the heads up on the coupon. I’m guessing the site is legit? And they will send me a code for Steam?

greenmangaming is very legit. One of the best places to pre-order games at discount prices. And yeah, you get a Steam key.

Ha ha. Someone claimed that the game is four hours long and now people are screaming that they’ll cancel their preorder.

Yeah, I’m sure, dudes. Dishonored is 4 hours long just like Portal 2 was 3 hours long. Which is to say, it’s not, and you’re full of shit.

From what I’ve read it’s 12 hours WITHOUT exploring (and I’m sure most of us will be exploring)

In case no one’s seen this yet: Drunken Whaler without background nonsense.

Fuark I’m so stoked for this game! Something fresh and original like this gets made very rarely these days amongst an ocean of sequels, prequels and reboots. The setting, atmosphere, gameplay and story all look top notch. Only a few days to go!

edit: A few reviews have started popping up! Very positive so far, which is great to hear. I have a feeling this game will become a classic.

I’ll be renting for sure for the 360. If it’s really good I’l pick it up on sale on steam in the future sometime.

I’m looking more into Hitman tbh.

Greenmangaming sent my steam key today. I am now pre-loading and the game unlocks in about 6 hours

edit: wow very positive reviews! editors’ choice on both gamespot and ign. 9/10 and 9.2/10

Aw nice. I just checked and got mine too. Currently preloading.

Great read here on RPS:

That was beautiful. I’m honestly glad that I just bought Skyrim, because otherwise I’d’ve gone crazy reading that and not being able to play the game.

Edit: Whatever happened to releasing demos for games?

Been playing it for a while, it’s basically Deus Ex meets Hitman on a steampunk setting.

There are no RPG elements of course and the supernatural elements set it apart from the games it’s inspired on.

The mission levels are big city section hubs that you can explore freely and there are side-missions you can find.

So far I find the game to be really good and a serious contender for GOTY.

So Dishonored is absolutely the most wicked game I’ve played since Half Life 2. It’s like Bioshock had a Lovecraftian love-child with Half Life 2 and dumped it at the Orphanage of Assassins Creed in Victorian-era England. Shits unbelievable.

Sounds actually nice, I enjoy these kind of games, since I’m too overwhelmed with actual RPGs but if it comes together in a reduced form with an 1st person fps with good exploration and storytelling (like Deus Ex), I’M satisfied ^^

I opened it up last night really only to mess with the settings before I actually play it, and noticed that the FoV slider only goes up to 85. Which file would I edit to go further than that? I changed it in the DefaultCamera ini file but I don’t know if that’s the right one. And also would I put all the SMAA files in the folder with the .exe? I think that’s how you do it most of the time but other times you have to put them in other places.

Edit: Never mind. There was a guide on Reddit for it.

Edit 2: Is there any way to holster your gun?

I’ve been waiting for a game like this for so long. I mostly play multiplayer FPS games due to the lack of decent story driven single player games that strive to be more than just shooting with some cutscenes. The last few years have given us Deus Ex 3, STALKER, Metro 2033 to name a few. But none that contend on the same level as HL2. But the more I see of this game, I think I’ll enjoy it more than any other game I’ve played recently.
