Dishonored

I’m serious, the game becomes infinitely better when the UI is off. Turn on the objective marker if you’re super lost, but without the UI (with the mana / hp bar set on contextual, unless you have more chest hair than me, of which you’ll then turn that sucker off too), its a lot like playing Half Life 2 as a ninja. Shit’s cash.

Hell, even using the heart without the markers is more rewarding.

There are some levels that dwarf that one. Without spoiling anything, there’s a level where you infiltrate a large fortress that feels like a vastly bigger version of Liberty Island from Deus Ex (but better). That fucking big. And the level after that is twice as big as that one.

I had to turn on the quest marker to find the place to hide Captain Curnow’s unconcious body in the first level because they wanted a specific dumpster, not just any place that is safe, but other than that I’ve been playing with it off. I also suggest modifying the FoV to something like 105 which is what I’m using and it feels perfect to me. Weird things sometimes happen (like it’ll look like your character is holding his knife with telekinesis at some points) but it’s not too bad.

And I love love love the heart.

I am playing it too and it is sublime!I just wish I haven’t watched some of the walkthroughs but I coudn’t resist.Arkane promised us freedom in gameplay and my,did they deliver!

How do you set the FOV past 85??

I don’t know if you can permanantly set it but you can bind a key to set the FoV to something higher. I have my num pad 0-6 set to FoV 90-120 in 5 degree increments.

Here’s the walkthrough to do it:

Holy shit you guise its the Citadel:

Wow, that looks pretty cool.

It’s a shame they can’t actually do that.

Why couldn’t they actually do that? I thought the article implied they had already given the Shard that makeover.

I just got the mask optics upgrade but when I go to use it nothing happens. I press z and it just puts the things around my view and makes my mouse move slower. When I press f to zoom in further it makes the sound but nothing happens. I don’t know what’s going on.

Man, I just saw some videos of the game, and it looks great! I may pick it up once I’ve finished AC: Revelations. The abilities look really interesting, and the setting is cool

It was just something the concept artists drew up: https://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/10/12/3494494/dishonored-developers-give-londons-shard-skyscraper-a-steampunk

They couldn’t do it IRL simply because it’d be controversial as fuck. Even if it was only up for a few days, people would be complaining about how ugly it is, how it ruins the skyline, and so on, not to mention how people would whine about promoting video games that supposedly promote violence, and so on.

Oh well, would be awesome if they had done it for real. Was just waiting for some London BM fans to take some footage of the Shard and composite some gunships and scanners flying around in the sky.

Did you change the zoom button to Z? My button is (default) left alt. Also, you won’t be able to press f for a second zoom until you get the 2nd level zoom upgrade.

I found out that it’s that I raised the FoV above 85 and it broke it. That sucks. But yeah both keys are what I said and I have the 2nd level zoom.

This game is a great example of how to do things when you don’t innovate gameplay. Just do a great job working with ideas that already work. The game was refreshingly high quality and most importantly it wasn’t another stupid sandbox with no point in being a sandbox or games so damn linear I feel like I am being dragged by the ear.

Only complaint is that even on hard its too easy. I rolled through the game with the greatest of easy and half way through the game I realized that the first half was massively inflated in time by finding things in the world because I stopped doing that because I was already OP.

The storyline was predictable as hell but interestingly presented so it gets away with it.

What’s up with the checkpoints? I keep dying at the first part and I have to watch the boat ride every time

Viktor Antonov’s work is brilliant. I don’t have the cash for the game just yet (what I do have is saved up for AC3). But mark my words, I will play this game!

The autosaves are pretty far apart. Use the quicksaves though.

Yes, but when I die and choose ‘load last save’, it loads the first autosave from the level instead of the quicksaves or my manual saves.
