Dishonored

This is why you must quickly press f9 before that screen comes.

Obviously, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work correctly out of the box.

Yeah, the save system is clunky and full of ass. It even overwrote my saves with older ones once, I’m guessing via cloudsave glitch.

It’s one of a very small number of complaints I have about this game.

I know that certain pirated copies have had that problem, not that I’m accusing you guys :stuck_out_tongue: . Never had any problems like that myself though.

Yeah, I’ve got a boxed preorder copy from Gamestop. Even have the tarot cards to go with it. I didn’t spoof my location or any other shenanigans, either (I know there’s been some issues with people across the pond who did that to play it early).

So I dunno.

Gameplay is awesome, don’t get me wrong. I recommend this game to anyone. But the cookie cutter story line was lackluster and generic. That’s right, I said it…

LOL story.

I can literally count the number of games with good, original stories on one hand. It’s just not a strength of the medium.

I seriously hope so. I doubt there are ‘countless’ games with truly original story lines. Nonetheless, doesn’t mean you can’t make an attempt to add some originality to the story line. Unfortunately this game didn’t do that.

Though to their credit they did have a really good setting, still…

But again, that aside I would still recommend the game to anyone.

There are some good books I recommend you, such as Call To The Spheres Vol I ,II and III or maybe you prefer Sokolov Technology and the New Age,what about Tales For Children…in short, the stuff that isn’t “in your face”…THE LORE is what counts the most when it comes to story telling in games like this…or at least it is to me.

I agree wholeheartedly. The problem is, with the story line in this game, plug in any number of different lore and the game would still be just the same. Lore only works if it is an integral part of the overall story line which in this case (IMHO) it wasn’t.

I predicted the premise of this game in the first 5 minutes of playtime and was about 90% accurate. There were a couple of times when I thought they would toss be a surprise and the premise would take a delightfully sinister path. Nope, didn’t happen.

It’s a fun game to play, but that’s it. Not that I’m actually complaining, just pointing out to anyone who hasn’t gotten the game that if they are looking for a deep engrossing story, this isn’t the game for it. Consider it a public service announcement.

Fair enough, opinions differ as always and maybe I am romancing this game too much but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone based on just "Play it,its fun!"It’s got beautiful art design, great soundtrack, immersive believable world and some good voice acting…you know what…I’ll get you an on overseer so he can explain some things to you  .

Again I agree, all the things you listed are fine reasons to play the game. And as I stated several times already, I recommend the game as well. And When I say it’s fun to play, many of those reasons you listed factor into my definition of ‘fun’.

I particularly enjoyed the setting and art design. Just for the record.

So I bought the game instead of renting.

Best game I’ve played in literally years. Anyone who likes Deus Ex like gameplay and is willing to take on steampunk ( never been much of a fan ) I can’t recommend it enough.

If they were to make a second ( haven’t finished yet ) I’d suggest more indepth interaction with NPCs.

If you ask me, it is more of the “Clockpunk” looking at the theme.

There are no steam at all, only whale oil

Whalepunk?

When you crouch in this game is puts a little vignette around the screen, anyone know how to turn that off?

Haha.

LOL! That was hilarious…

I wonder if it’s ingrained into the AI that they can’t see you when leaning or if it just happens that way due to how the AI functions. I think it was that way in Thief though because I don’t know if I’ve ever been seen in that game while leaning. Because I’ve heard a lot of people say that the guards don’t look up and can’t spot you when you’re on a somewhat high ledge but I get spotted all the time when on a ledge as long as I’m not in shadows.

I remember one of the devs talking about that before release, and they were kinda just like “yeah, work with us here a little, lean is useless if the AI sees you when you do it.”
