Deus Ex Human Revolution teaser trailer (it's awesome)

I don’t think this game will require a space computer to run. It’ll probably not look much better than the console version.

i think 3rd person is kind of a good idea if the takedowns are going to be brutal, bloody, slow motion, cinematic pieces of art

you pulled the words from my mouth… and according to the devs, there will be a lot of them, and on top of that unlockable ones depending on your augs or weapons that you carry, how many people you take down and from what direction… i cant wait

Except unless they implement them right, it could SEVERELY ruin the “Deus Ex” part of the game. If the actual game plays like that closed-doors demo, then it basically means the developers lied through their teeth to the Deus Ex fans to get them to pre-order (or buy the game as soon as it comes out before the discover what it really is), and then actually release a game that will appeal to the general shooter crowd on its own, while the Deus Ex fans curse the fact that they can’t return it.

To my mind at least, the Deus Ex franchise is dead and all sequels are average shooters that have lost everything the original had. I pray I am proven wrong. The world needs another Deus Ex.

Unfortunately, we can’t have a new Deus Ex game these days without a few sacrifices and new or updated concepts.

Also, let’s be honest, a game that played exactly like Deus Ex played back in 2000 would just be completely outdated and out of touch with the current reality of videogames. Yeah, it would please the hardcore fans, but hardcore fans are just a minority. They need to target this to as many types of FPS fans possible or else it would be a commercial failure.

Now, from what I have read around, the devs are trying to create an experience that pleases both hardcore fans of the original game as well as gamers who’ve never even heard of the original game, and if you’re a game developer making a sequel to a beloved franchise, that’s the best type of sequel you can create, imo.

How could a new Deus Ex game with the original gameplay be outdated when no modern games have ever caught up to it’s brilliance in flexible gameplay?

And if you do 100 takedowns, and the camera switches to 3rd person every single time, that is going to get fucking annoying after about five of them. That shit is just jarring and shouldn’t be done.

Also, if you are trying to knockout two people in quick succession, that shit will just get in the way.

Original Deus Ex’s baton for the win (though I do like the idea of adding hand takedowns, it’s one of very few things I wish was in the original).

Deus Ex is 10 years old today! Get them cheap(er) on Steam while you can.

just started playing deus ex 1 for the first time, and yeah, it’s awesome, and BATON KICKS ASS

and yeah, its FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

Yeah, the takedowns are going to suck, the gameplay looks generic, and generally it looks average.

My opinion that this is an insult to awesomeness of the original stands.

like the takedowns in the original were so great with that gay batton (which was ok in its time)… these takedowns are freakin awesome!! and the third person view is handled very well, just like the riddick game… awesome to the maX!

There were no take downs in the original…

And no, the third person is not good. Its annoying.

i dont care what you think, i think its awesome!! and the problem with the original is that the takedowns were freakin boring. you either batton someone to the ground or taser him… but whateverrr. im gettin this one for sure.

Basically, the game play looks like it belongs in any generic shooter, not in a Deus Ex game. It looks like they’ve gotten rid of gun skills as well.

Just to let you know, Someonerandm, this isn’t Deus Ex 1.

I know. But I’m entitled to complain that it isn’t.

Ultimately, while I recognize sequels can be different than the original, my complaint here is that it seems to be changing everything that was good about the original, and as much as people hate the phrase, it does seem to be for the “console 'tards”.

And you do realize you’re fighting a losing battle against more than one person who thinks you’re dead wrong? There were no takedowns in the first Deus Ex because there didn’t need to be. Adding pointless stuff like that just makes it seem more and more dumbed down, as does not having a weapons skill either. It takes all of the RPG elements out of the game. It’s going to be like going from System Shock 2 to BioShock, sure BioShock was a good game, but it was a mere shadow to System Shock 2 because of the immense amount of features that were removed from it.

Yeah well, it’s being developed by different people. Just try not to view it as a perfect Deus Ex game. You have to be somewhat reasonable. Of course they’re going to add unneeded badass takedowns and subtract a few rpg elements in favor of FPS gameplay because games like Modern Warfare sell.

Half the reason they’re making this game is to make money. If they make a Deus Ex 1 clone then 3/4ths of the gaming community is going to look at the trailer and go “eh” without actually trying out the game.

Just look at it as a Deus Exish game and all will be good. That’s how I got through Shadow the Hedgehog. >_>

EDIT: Either that or they’re just trying hard and failing. I’m trying to put more faith in them though.
