Alright so I actually strained my brain a little and the answer is obvious. The technology in the first Deus Ex looks more dated than the technology of the prequel on a purely design standpoint. Back then, the humble Unreal 1 engine couldn’t make the game look any better and so the whole aesthetical design had to be made around its limitations.
This new game however uses a far more advanced game engine that can do much better justice to the work of the designers and that’s why it looks more advanced than the “sequel”.
Also, it’s still set in the future ffs.

As for short of a canonical explanation. This is set before the collapse and before the events of the original DX, which was kinda already a messed up world.
Whoa. Too bad it probably won’t work as well as a game as it seems like it would a movie, but still eager to see how it turns out.
Also, I wish I had noticed it was playing in 320p before the end so I could have watched it in 1080p. >_<
How many Dues X’s are there? I have never played the first one. Is it any good?
I’ve heard 720 is better, because YouTube doesn’t actually support 1080, because it’ll get compressed a little and you’ll see a hardly noticable blur./derail

The first Deus Ex was a brilliant rpg, which i recommended you to play. As for the second one, it was pretty messed up.
