if anybody wants them in WMV or AVI, i got em’.
The thing is, Deus Ex 3 is going to be released in an era of ego shooters. If it doesn’t even try to compete a bit in that area, it’s going to be a commercial flop.
As much as we would like this game to stay as close to the original as possible, the reality is that that wouldn’t work in today’s market. I think we should be thankful that a game like this is even being made in this day and age.
I’m pretty sure its story and gameplay will be a thousand times better and deeper than any CoD or Halo.
Is that official or just your conclusion from the gamepley vids?
We’ve already seen that the gameplay will probably be fairly run-of-the-mill with little creativity, the story may be good who knows.
It’s official from what everyone has said is that it’ll just be the standard aim-and-fire gameplay, with no weapon skills required.
This is what I’ve been saying.
My point was that it was still a retarded system. They should’ve just made me wobble a bit when aiming.
Another reason why the melee system is retarded.
I never said I wanted it removed, I was nitpicking to prove a point. They aren’t getting rid of poison crossbows.
When did they say they were removing melee weapons? They didn’t.
The level design was boring, in my opinion. Again, I was just nitpicking out small irritations to show you guys how judgemental you were about a game. I was proving that will all of those flaws, Deus Ex was a fun game. Kind of like how even though you guys are pointing out all of the flaws in Deus Ex 3, it will still be a fun game. Chill out guys.
What the hell I never said I disliked the game, in fact, you seemed to completely disregard my bolded text.
I loved Deus Ex. I downloaded the Shifter mod just so I could have a reason to play it again.
If you watch the demo, they’re still keeping that part in. You can visibly see the crosshair start out big and get smaller. Looks like he had a high gun skill or something because it closes fast.
Somebody else complained about it.
Same as above.
I’m saying that there was never a time when that was necessary or useful, and it hardly worked right anyways.
I’m not ignorant. Where do you get the idea that I don’t know anything about Deus Ex? I loved it. You can probably finish the game without killing anybody in this one. The guy said several times that you could finish the mission a different way.
Then don’t do fucking stealth takedowns.
Are you saying that by looking at a shallow look at some gameplay in an unfinished game, you can tell the game won’t be as strategic? The guy wouldn’t shut up about the fact that he was brute forcing everything and that there was several other ways to do everything he was doing.
It would still be the same game under a different title. Would you like the game better if that happened? Would everybody stop complaining if this wasn’t called Deus Ex 3 and it was instead called something else?
If it wasn’t called Deus Ex 3, it wouldn’t be compared to Deus Ex. So yes, it’d probably be a good thing in its favor.
No, seriously. Removing skills like that pretty much kills the RPG element. Admittedly if your character is going to be an undercover agent it makes sense to have basic skills, but being instantly perfect just makes it a shooter. Having upgradeable skills is about having a character who’s manageable at the start, but you watch to see it blossom into a serious uber-warrior by the end-game. I’ll always have a sense of satisfaction when I can aim any weapon with pinpoint accuracy while running in DX1, but making that ability available early on ruins any sense of appreciation.
Those two games aren’t really comparable though. One is an RPG first with shooter elements added, while the other is a complete shooter with a bit of puzzle solving. Storywise Half Life is good, but it simply can’t compete with the depth of Deus Ex. One game takes like 3-4 days to complete, the other over a week; there’s no contest. To use playground games as an analogy you’re comparing Treaure Hunt to Tag. One rewards exploration, discovering every clue and alternate path. The other is fun due to the thrill of the chase. Neither is any less fun or refined, but they just aren’t comparable on a gameplay level.
I disagree. Look a Fallout 3. It is pretty much total RPG with decent gunplay added, and it won Game of the Year. Deus Ex 3 is trying to be a shooter while shoehorning in the old RPG elements. Fallout proved it can be done, so why is Eidos doing the opposite, rather than trying to maintain the Deus Ex style?
To everyone that is saying that the RPG element is gone:
If your read the official EIDOS faq about the game, it states that they have implemented an “augmentation” system that allows you to develop your skills. There are about 12 or so augs that can be upgraded (from which one is better handling of weapons!!). Computerhacking skills, lockpicking and so fort is all found back in there. These things will be available from the start just like the original, and you will be able to upgrade. Without cheats it wouldn’t be possible to get everything maxed out in one playthrough.
As for a comparison with fallout 3. I’ve been searching a bit, and EIDOS actually did a humongous job with the script. One of fallout 3’s main gameplay features is the dialogue, which was pretty extensive. Now, after looking around on google, i’ve found out that the original script used for fallout 3’s dialogue and story and all the computers and things you’d find and read and radio’s etc. consisted of about 80.000 lines of written lines. Eidos has released that the deus ex 3 script, which will be scheduled to be finished in july, has about 200.000 written lines of dialogue etc. Now this mostly is marketing, so lets assume they got it right for 50%, and the game has 100.000 lines, which is still a hell of a lot more than fallout 3. Now they have implemented a cool rpg thingy in the conversations of the game. You can talk to everyone and get information, that much they’ve stated, but its also possible to screw up a conversation with someone so bad, that he/she may never want to talk to you again in the game. So there is actual risc involved which you dont see much anymore. If something failes, you normally try again until you get the right line of questioning, in deus ex 3 thats wont be the case, which i find very cool.
Supaflyy is right. if you read any articles here, or watched the video, you’d see that the RPG elements are still there. you can upgrade weapons, augs and skills. during the video, when he pulls out the assault rifle at the end, you can clearly see the reticule start out wide and shrink. in an article talking about that private demonstration, it was stated that both the Rocket and the rifle were fully upgraded for the demo. your still going to suck at the beginning of the game like Deus Ex 1.
You guys need to realize, your jumping the gun and condemning a game that you haven’t even played. Nothing will live up to Deus Ex 1. No game will ever be quite like it, but i do think that this game is worthy to bear the name.
i’m very optimistic and hopeful that it will be good, and I’m glad that some things are getting an overhaul. ( retarded AI, Melee, level design, voice acting.) The story also seems to be top notch like the original.
Come on guys, i know all us PC gamers are cynics, but at least be a little hopeful this turns out awesome.
Seriously, where does it say that they’ve removed the weapon skill upgrades?!
You guys are whinier than the whiners on the Human Revolution forum. Maybe it’ll be another Invisible War - who knows? - but you’re judging it pretty harshly before seeing any proper gameplay. Or playing it. It’s a game, remember.
MOAR SHOTS!

BLADE RUNNER THE GAME!
well not that it’s a bad thing.
It’s all brown! Where are my neon rave lights?!
Looks fantastic, never played any of the other ones. Looks like I’m in for a good ride. Almost seems comparable to Crysis 2 - graphic orgasm wise.
It does need some color. Badly. Even the city is brown, and cities are not brown. (Look at Crysis 2’s which look better by far).
Just to say, Invisible War had a very worthy storyline, it was the gameplay that they fucked up on, the story was good.
That trailer should be for a movie. No way a game has graphics like that. None but the hardcore gamers would even be able to run it if it looked like that ingame.
Still gonna get it though, just to see if it can live up to its title.
Proper in-game trailer with gameplay footage.

The HD button is a bit too subtle but it’s right before the Fullscreen button.
Why is it so yellow? Its no better that brown.
I’m still miffed about 3rd person takedowns. It’s a shit idea for a 1st person game.
The way I see it, I think it makes sense. Since the cinematics were always done in third-person anyway, I don’t think it hurts to see the takedowns in third-person either.
And you get to see the kick-ass animations in a better view.
