Dear Esther Graphics update

BTW his devblog says the grass moves in the wind properly. Is that awesome or is that awesome?

I think its spain.

Did you play Mirror’s Edge? For a start I played the PC version so I can’t comment on any low res textures. But it was meant to look lowfi, plain colours, very stylised. That’s the reason it looks so gorgeous in my opinion, if they had gone for photo realism it would have been pants. It’s just a shame that the game was shit.

Wrong thread.
[COLOR=‘Black’]SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN

In 50 years we will laugh at ourselves for getting so giddy about video games’ grass movements.

Yes.

I know. It could have had higher res textures where it counted though. Basically everywhere that wasn’t washed out by overbright sun.

Agreed. It was fun at first, but it didn’t last more than a couple levels.

I agree with sersoft 100%.

Dear Esther is set in Spain?

yes

No, I think its in Spain. [color=black]Oh God another thread lost.

Guys, it’s not set in Spain. It’s set in España.

Im curious to see how many of us get banned.

To bring back the mirror’s edge console vs. pc debate; PC clearly wins.

Most likely none.

I think it’splain that its gone too far.

Too subtle?

On Topic: If anyone has ever played KotOR 2, you would know that there’s one ‘battle’ for Onderon, which turns into not really being a battle at all, since its all pre-recorded. That was because the Xbox lagged too hard during the battle, and they didn’t bother changing it back for the PC. That’s probably the most obtuse instance of dumbing down a game for consoles.

Even more on topic: Here’s a video of the grass.

More like a case of Obsidian not being able to actually finish the game at all.

KotOR 2 was released unfinished and only fan-made mods were able to bring back some of the stuff Obsidian didn’t have time to put in the game.

We don’t need 50 years. I laughed now. Why would I bother that the grass isn’t moving correctly. I can’t feel the wind so I don’t care how the grass moves.

In 50 years we will die not of old age, but of the elementS or radioactivity from a game that creates a real world, where you can feel pain, wind and heat etc… yeah.

If someone manages to create a virtual world indistinguishable from reality, who is going to live a real life after that? Machines don’t have to force humanity into accepting a false reality, some people’s senses of idealism or disenfranchisement and helplessness in reality may lead them to permanently enter the virtual ether in lieu of living in the real world. And who could blame them? After all, the world has problems.

It certainly makes for some interesting discussion, but it might more properly belong in “Massdebating hall.”

yeah last i checked you were jizzing over some shitty grass effects

They aren’t really shitty at all.
