Crysis 2

I don’t really see how modifying weapons is useless - you want to take down enemies non-lethally, you can if you attach a sleeper dart, want to silently you can if you attach a silencer - if you want to dispatch of enemies faster instead you remove the silencer for more power, if you come toe-to-toe to a more armored enemy, change clips to incendiary rounds for increased firepower, If you want to snipe from a distance attach an ACOG scope/Sniper scope.

Then again you said you only played the demo - and there is no other ammo in the demo, and the only sight mod was a reflex sight which gives you pretty much the same range as an Iron sight, just with a less obtrusive view, and in the full game you do more realistic damage to enemies (the issue was addressed and fixed in a patch, although some people like to argue that leaving the weak damage forces you to aim for the head more rather then spraying, but i disagree - you should always aim for the head)

Not really, they’ll fire into the air or at your direction if you cloak right in front of them, or make too much noise.

Not useless, just doesn’t change much.

Also, has anyone got a hold of the demo? I DL’d it this morning but can’t play till tomorrow.

Hey xbros, how’s the demo? Heard it was laggy and buggy as hell but I’d like to get a second opinion.

Don’t worry can, he’s speaking out of his ass like a lot of them tend to. I’d make an analogy but I don’t have the time.

You took my quote out of context - oh you!:3

I’ve been watching some live streams of the demo, it looks pretty fun. Haven’t seen that many lag problems aside from some delayed melee kills from the people playing but can’t say much until I play myself.

Is there a significant difference silenced shots & darts or do they both just boil down to quietly taking out an enemy in 1 or 2 hits?

I didn’t mean that the weapon modifications wouldn’t have any impact on the game, just that it wouldn’t have a significant impact on the game if you jut forgot about them entirely. That however, just makes the iron sight sound completely pointless.

That just makes all but the most accurate weapons useless at close range. There should be a difference, but not nearly as dramatic as what I played.

I was speaking out of personal experience. The guy stopped, went at ease & tried to casually walk away when I cloaked only a few feet in front of his face.

I have no kind of personal crusade against the game or anything, I just found the demo boring & unimpressive. And hell, it’s not like I had it as bad as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNRvYqTKqFY

Sort of depends on your distance, headshots are always 1 hit (unless you shoot the helmet) but if you don’t have a clear shot and want to go for a body shot you might as well remove the silencer, as it can take nearly 2x the ammo to drop a guy if you don’t have a clear headshot.

Played the demo. Played disappointingly like modern COD in presentation. The game still FELT like Crysis though in the armor powers and (thankfully) sound design.

I just wish there was a bigger expansion on the things that made C1’s multiplayer unique. It was refreshingly bare bones and self dependent in a generation where every kill has to have “+100 AN 300 MOAR N U GET 2 SPAWN WIT A NEW GUN LOLOLOLOLOLOL” in order for people to keep playing it. Then again, I only got to play one game type on what was probably the smallest map in the game. If the whole final game IS like that, I just hope there are gonna be servers without that fucking bullshit.

Graphics wise it was much better than I expected on the 360. In fact, if the PC version ended up looking like it I wouldn’t be THAT disappointed. Again, perpetually butthurt PCfags blow shit way out of proportion there.

Sound wise, it’s fucking awesome. I loved C1’s audio sandbox (save voice acting of course) and this just improved on everything crysis 1 established… cept the new shotty. It sounds like someone dropped a pencil in a coffee mug.

I’ve been hearing complaints about the controls, but the default setup I like a lot. I’d prefer some better in depth customization, but I’m not getting attached to them anyway as I’m getting this for the PC. To be honest, the controls are the thing that evokes the COD feeling for me. I mean I guess with the armor powers being on the bumpers, there’s no where else to put melee but the right thumbstick, but I just don’t like it. I got a bad clenching problem [COLOR=‘DimGray’]go ahead, have at it and I always end up twitching and looking away from my target when I have them in my sights. It’s my problem, I know, but I’d rather be able to use the right bumper for melee, left bumper for nanovision, and the suit powers to be on the Dpad. Also, I’m not sure if it’s just me, but there seems to be a bad delay between what I do on the pad and what happens on screen. Not TOO bad. Not Halo 3 on coop campaign with some dude in Australia bad, but enough to get irritating.

All that being said, they cut enough corners for using suit powers to not be more of a distraction than a gameplay feature. The problem is they included so many other fucking distractions that I’m not even sure how I feel about the game. I’m definitely getting it for the mods, but I may not touch the multiplayer much if it’s just gonna be another “GET A KILL UNLOCK A SIGHT GET A KILL UNLOCK A SIGHT GET A KILL UNLOCK A GUN” game.

Yes there are glitches, yes it’s broken, but it’s a PC developer first and foremost. They’re used to shipping half a game and patching the shit out of it over the course of about a month. Plus I’m pretty sure the demo ain’t near the finished product.

additional shit: Headshot killcams are fucking awesome. I kinda wish every killcam had the bullet close up thing no matter where it hit you.

What’s with the twitchy ass ragdolls? I mean they’re a huge improvement over the insanely stiff Crysis 1 ragdolls, but still. I’m pretty sure it’s unavoidable, as I haven’t ever seen ragdolls that were PERFECT, but it happens so consistently in the C2 demo that it gets distracting. It’s especially bad when YOU die and the camera twitches out WITH the body.

It takes way too long to actually pick something up. You have to hold the button down way too long I mean. If you’re gonna do the “walk over and hold down” method to pick up a weapon, you need to have it instant and fast. Otherwise what’s the point?

All in all, the bad parts are what I expected and the good parts are too. When it comes out I’ll just wait a bit before I buy it though. I’m really frightened of it becoming another COD clone. I mean by no means do I really care all that much about Crysis, but I’d be pretty sad if it caught this Modern Warfare disease that all shooters have been catching. I really don’t want that shitty, gimmicky COD gameplay style to start elbowing it’s way into franchises that don’t need it. It seems to be going after Killzone as well.

Meh, I won’t be in it for the multiplayer anyway. I still prefer my TF2 over any fast paced insta-killed by a pistol game any day.

Well, Crysis isn’t THAT bad :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s just enough time to think and react to an attack in Crysis. It’s not like COD’s “running running ru-dead”

I tried it for a bit. It was an improvement, but I could never get into it.

Pretty much. like I said, I’m sure the mod scene will breathe some life into it.

You’ve played with jambo too? :stuck_out_tongue:

I played the demo, and it was sorta “meh.” It was there graphically, but it didn’t feel right in the gameplay department. Maybe in the full version, when we get maps that aren’t on top of a 10 story building, there’ll be more gameplay variety. Also, Halofags and CoDfags have made me hate deathmatch, when I used to love it. Too bad it was the only mode available without leveling up.

Hey guys. Crytek announced that there will be a PC demo for Crysis 2.

hope so!

Indeed its laggy as a bitch on 360. And the gameplay is ruined by people who just run around and meele

Oh, and the melee itself is broken as fuck.

Seriously.

Is it an insta kill?

When it wants to be.

And even then there’s no guarantee that they will die WHEN you hit them. Sometimes you hit them, they shoot you dead, and then spontaneously collapse.

The killcams are the worst though. They’re absolutely fucked.

Here’s how it is: You die. The message states you were meleed to death. Alright. Killcam comes on. The dude that killed you just sprints around and looks at you for a few seconds, then sprints away.

Let’s say you were shot to death. Same thing, but they actually do attack. cept they miss every shot.

C2 needs a lot of work.

Now, this is all when you can actually play before it fatally freezes your 360. I can’t say it’s a performance issue, because when it runs it runs smooth as hell. I just don’t know.
