This is what you get when you take a game that is made to run on high-end pc’s and you put it on a console that’s older than the game itself, it just won’t run properly.
I’m more than sure the hardware has nothing to do with shit netcode.
I blame consoles. No real reason to, but it seems like the thing to do.
Seeing a lot of that on the internet.
I can’t help but notice how downgraded the graphics for CE3 are for console.
I spawned in front of an air conditioning unit and the first thing I noticed was the fact that its texture was ridiculously low-res.
Christ, what the fuck were you people expecting? Of course the game wasn’t going to look like Crysis in Ultra-high on the consoles. I bet the engine is using the consoles’ hardware as much as it can but you can’t expect miracles here.
I expected it to be downgraded to hell, but not to such an obvious extent.
Things like draw distances, shadows and lighting and even physics were what I expected to be impacted the most. Not a blatant texture resolution reduction on a model that’s placed right in front of where you spawn…
That said, the multiplayer isn’t bad. But I’ll be getting it for PC anyway so the graphics points are moot for me.
The consoles have a limited memory pool. They have to spread their resources as evenly as they can in order to keep the memory budget happy and still have plenty of stuff to show, but it’s obvious some sacrifices had to be done for the sake of performance.
The texture has bad UE3 style pop in.
If you wait a bit, the resolution does get better.
Speaking of pop in, C2 on the 360 has it in fucking spades. Not complaining though, they did it in a graceful enough way for it to not be that noticeable.
No one cares about good game play and music nowadays. Its about graphics and bad ways to ruin the mechanics of the game, hardly any games pay attention to the points that made good games.
Yeah. We all should play Tetris again.
Crysis 2’s soundtrack sounds pretty good to me so far… Better than Crysis 1’s Amazing Race/ Survivor crap.
I’m just wondering how they’re planning to fix the myriad of horrible glitches and netcode issues in the next 6 weeks, or if Crytek is going to just run itself into the ground.
We shall see. No real value in speculation.
I just wanted to add that while it is almost the best shooter ever made, it loses out on the title imo because it has such a guff ending. Apart from that though, it’s Fan-Dabby-Dosey!
So I did.
What ending? Crysis 2 isn’t out yet, so you shouldn’t know how it ends.
I love how people continue to conveniently ignore every game to come out each year that ISN’T about graphics, and prefer to whine about the games that exist at the opposite end of the spectrum.
Yeah, pretty much. There are tons of great games coming out. Just because they aren’t the most popular game on the planet doesn’t mean that somehow great games are dying.
I’ve heard Deadly Premonition is awesome, in a lame but awesome B-movie way.
Wut. It had a pretty badass soundtrack

Crysis 2 is also sounding good indeed
