Best Sequel

Kings Quest 6 and 7

6 was just a revamp of 5 but it was so grand a tale
and 7 who can not say they didn’t love the boogieman level and the fact that a handkerchief stops a GIANT SCORPION so awesome although that’s my opinion from when i was a kid playing them.

I freaking loved King’s Quest 8, personally. And the graphics were amazing and terrifying all at the same time, for me. The first level gave me nightmares. :open_mouth:

Anno 1404 (took everything that was good in the predecessors and expanded upon it while having neither drawbacks nor any major bugs).

Half-Life 2 (quantum jump in graphics quality, animation, voice and character acting, level design and story).

Sims 2 (did everything better than Sims and is still superior to Sims 3 in many aspects)

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (much better graphics and animation, cool story, guest-starring Luke and Lando, but drawbacks because there was no skill point system anymore, nor the choice between light and dark side)

Saints Row 2- Being a big GTA fanboy at the time, Saints Row 1 was a big surprise. It was a GTA clone that was good enough to stand on its own.
But Saints Row 2 gained the series it’s well deserved “Wow” status. It was everything I wanted from GTA4 and more. Sure, the graphics weren’t impressive, and the soundtrack isn’t as memorable, but everything else, from story to its “3rd Person Shooter w/ First-Person Controls” was sheer awesomeness!
So until R* takes Saints Row as major competition and starts adding flamethrowers, co-op, side-missions that don’t suck, and more flamethrowers (seriously, the fire effects in GTA4 was awesome! Why didn’t they have flamethrowers?!) I think Saints Row will eventually take over GTA.
But for now, we’ll have to listen to the Houser bros. “omg realism” bullshit. Until then, I’ll commit Insurance Fraud. (also, the physics in GTA4 was awesome! WTF?!)
Even Yahtzee agrees with me, and he hates pretty much everything!

I agree with John Killer about GTA 4.

I have never played Saints Row, all I know is that GTA4 is one of my least favourite games of the past few years.

Don’t even joke about that; Prelude was one of the most terrible mods I’ve ever played.

As for my sequel choices… well, I’ve gotta be straight, I don’t game much outside of the Half-Life series, so I’ve gotta go with Half-Life 2 here. I guess I could also say Sim City 3000… it was definitely a sight better than 2000.

Probably HL2, and Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell and its upcoming sequel, Resurrection.

mMetal gear solid 2, hl2, black mesa source, call of duy 4, bf2, counter strike sorce, age of the empires 3, super smash bros melee, soulcalibur 2.

How is BM a sequel? It’s the remake of a prequel.

BM is a prequel, HL isn’t.

Half life 2 episode.2, Halo.3, GTA 4.

Isn’t Half-Life the prequel of Half-Life 2? Prequel as in the opposite of a sequel?

I think prequel usually refers to a game released on a later date, but is set before the previous one.

Dust is correct. Sequels, prequels, interquels, midquels, and any other variation of -quels refer to a work created afterwards, regardless of its place in the narrative timeline.

HL is a predecessor of HL2.

Oh okay. Thanks for the explanation.

No. Half-Life is a predecessor of Half-Life 2. A Prequel would be a game that’s made after the original, but the story takes place before the original. An example would be the Star Wars films that must not be named.

  • Battletanx: Global Assault
It took Battletanx, a great game, and made it into a fantastic game. The new variety of tanks was incredibly enjoyable in terms of utilizing vastly different combat strategies. It quadrupled the tank selection and still gave every vehicle a unique style of play.
  • Team Fortress 1.5, à la Team Fortress Classic
    Mmmmmm…

That is all.”

  • Fd Mar Gradenko

I agree, Tiberium Wars is a great game. I even liked the briefings, although many think they’re cheesy

World of Warcraft - Burning Crusade (Wrath of the Lich King the new one, SUCKS) and Baldur’s Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal

Everyone who put HL2 should be banned imo
