Why’s that? HL2 was a great game. More fun then the original.
I think Half-Life 2 was great, but I think it would have been better if they kept some ideas that we’re scrapped like the Combine pumping water from the seas, or just if they made the Combine look a bit more aggressive. I.e. on the 4th cover of my copy of Half-Life 2 GOTY you could see a screenshot of combines executing citizens.

I enjoyed HL alot more than HL2, but that doesn’t change HL2 was a good game.
Nostalgia and age plays a big part in this argument.
They are both great games, and very few can have good reason to say that HL2 doesn’t meet expectations.
Half-Life 2, Time Splinter 2, Manhunt 2 and Silent Hill series.
It wasn’t. Look at how the docks end. On land. Just because there’s still some ocean, or giant tubes leading into it, doesn’t mean it’s not being drained.
And play through the first chapter again. The metrocops are constantly beating people up.
