I would have to say Half-Life 2 or Fallout 2 and 3.

FreeSpace 2. Took everything that was great about the first and built upon it for epic awesomeness.

Command and Conquer 3, Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 if it counts.
HL2 - some folks dont think so, but the level design, pacing and balance are better than HL1, also like the grav gun and impressive facial animation.
Super Mario Bros 3 - If you never played it, go fecking play it now!
Warcraft 3, Rome: total war, Battlefield 2, Team Fortress 2 and Age of Empires 2.
Half-Life 2, streets of rage 2, Sonic 2, Red Alert 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, GTA3 and 4, Morrowind, Oblivion, Warcraft II and that’s about it.
