Best looking game you've ever played?

The blue sentinels with the alien queen heads? In the zeroG Forerunner ruins? Yeah, they were cool.

:stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously. Back on topic plx

Yea, Crysis is just a tad over-qualified.

Wait, what?

It was better than it needed to be?

wow all lot off bullshit in thsi thread ;f
anyway heres few i can think of now :
bioshock
painkiller
The new prince of persia
fallout tactics
prey
zeno clash
devil may cry 3
silent hill 2 and 3
Oddworld Abe’s Exoddus
Clive Barkers Jericho
Batman Arkham Asylum probly the best looking one when it comes to combining realismy with cartoonish style i played in many years
and the game that will be the best looking one when it comes to style and techonology for few years to come will be :
Rage

On that note, if you want artistic, colorful, and stylized, play the 2008 Prince of Persia game. Yeah, it wasn’t as good as the other PoP games. It was still awesome.

i dunno why everybody hate the new pop game, i think it was better than the third pop game ;f
Anyway i got another one that ppl seem to miss nowdays.
Gears of war, its art design started a whole new trend for brown shit collor games so it got very overused nowdays , but when it came out i was mind blown ;f

Arkham Asylum did have a nice stylized look. Perhaps too realistic for your tastes, but show me a guy with a chin the size of the joker’s.

Actually, I think DE is much more stylized. Show me a cave that looks half as beautiful DE’s. But you’re right on the outside of the cave, it seems to be ultra-realistic, or perhaps a tad on the gritty side.

I dled batman arkham asylum expecting it to be a POS but found it to be one of my favorite games. My only problem with it was that it had an epic combat system, but not nearly enough combat.

Forgot to cut that one out actually.

Metal Slug, hands down.

oh man totally forgot about metal slug, now thats a good looking game ;f

It looks very nice and artistic, but there’s not any persia left in it. The world is nothing like the original ancient india/middle-east with all the temples and palaces and cool ninja-sword fights. Now it just looks like a (generic?) fantasy-world with gigantic zeppelins and gigantic magic swords. Though I should propably play it before saying anything.

Right, you sort of have to treat it as its own game. I enjoyed it immensely for what it was, not what everyone wanted it to be. And it really isn’t generic.

The original Unreal for me - the environments were so wierd and unique compared to other games.

Plus the music was so atmospheric, it really enhanced the mood the game creates:

EDIT:

Come on, where else is there a futuristic game with medieval castles and mountain spires that take you to floating towns?

it failed mostly at trying to be open ended sand box thingy , the story suffered a lot form it even thought it had a lot of potential, and since you could tackle any level at any time, the difficulty was the same whole game, it could have been a big reboot for the series, but its funny how such little things changed that ;f

quake? But yeah, both quake and unreal need a revival. Both franchises have lost touch with their roots.

Actually, maybe Epic games should stay away from narrative…

These thread needs another name: Don’t be shallow but post the best looking game.

I love the original quake as well (Mapping and mods were great and are still alive - SP is fun, mindless action), but Epic did a pretty good job with the original narrative imo - i liked how instead of fleshing the story out through cutscenes and dialogue, much of it was done by telling it through the dead. And it was pretty deep story and lore, even if the game was just an fps. I mostly liked how finding out things was done by the player, not by some objectives set or anything telling you what to do.

Also, I’d agree with you if a new Unreal is anything like UT3 or unreal 2 for single player. But the original Unreal is unique in that there’s really not anything like it.

And UT is done with - UT4 would just be unneeded overkill, UT99 was perfect as it is.

//\ great memories with this as well

Like gears. But when Epic tried cutscene with Gears, it was a fucking nightmare. The collectibles in gears 2 DO tell quite an interesting story, but why can’t they just show it in the cutscenes?

GAH!

Still ot.
