Battlefield 4

HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED

It’s happened on a couple different networks, one of which it worked for a long time on before it stopped. Currently I can connect to a server, but I get kicked within the first minute or so with some disconnect error. I’ll look into it when my laptop finally gets repaired (my aging desktop can’t run BF3 respectably).

From what I’ve heard, the Five-seveN is a light pistol, that fires a special armour piercing round (the same as the more famous P90 SMG) designed to penetrate ballistic plates. It has a default magazine of 20 rounds, which combined with its suppousedly superior stopping power is something really nice to have in a sidearm. Although I’ve also heard that its flash is very bright and it sounds way too loud.

Although that’s real life. In BF4 it will probably be mechanically the same as other handguns, with a few subtle differences. It’s not like it shoots angry badgerbees or giant wooden stakes.

I love how little people look up.

its quite literally the best pistol in the world

-lighter than a glock (even with a full mag)
-has 20 rnd mag (30 for the extended types), which is around the range of glocks
-rounds have high velocity and accuracy at range; meaning unbelievable groupings
-virtually no recoil (especially with avid shooters who are so used to shooting 9mm’s or .45acp’s)
-fast fire rate (its very fast to follow through with shots)
-rounds can shoot through kevlar (its notorious as a cop killer gun)

quite literally the only flaws people will point out about this pistol would be:

-untraditional design (safety is located in a position that many may not want to get used to; this is purely opinionated from a avid gun user standpoint of course)
-high price (for the gun itself AND the ammo)
-premium ammo cartridge (it uses 5.7x28mm, which is the same ammo the p90 and the new AR57 uses)

the US Secret Service and various Law enforcement uses the Fiveseven (and p90)
alot of foreign countries use the pistol too

so far video games do a great job popularizing the fiveseven, with the exception of counterstrike…

i hope bf4 fiveseven becomes a popular weapon, but not OP of course

Installed it just now. Should start playing tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t run as poorly as I’ve heard.

My guess is he’s into it just as much as I’m into 1911’s…

I didn’t ever buy a game just because it had 1911’s… But the games I got and have them, I often end up carrying a 1911 regardless of other choices.

(In BF3, I even joined the Gunclub to get mine)

And let’s just say that I often piss on my own grave with this “YAY 1911” thing, because especially in ArmA, I’ve seen Glock 21’s and USP45’s, and I’m pretty sure I even saw a SIG P220 somewhere.

Same caliber, larger magazine… And more reliable. Even though historically, the 1911 was apparently a helluva reliable single-shooter even againist Banzaiers. (Philippine equivalent of a Banzai charge is why US Army put .45 ACP in service in the first place)

I was about to post that it’s been a horrid stutter-fest in the few minutes I’ve tried it (regardless of settings), but then I remembered that I haven’t installed the current Nvidia beta drivers yet.

Will edit this post once I’ve tried it with the newer drivers.

EDIT: MASSIVE improvement with the beta drivers, now get 60+fps all the time and almost no stutter (if any at all).

Ultra settings, 1920x1080, no AA, no motion blur, FOV 100.

Specs: i7 4770 3.4GHz, GTX770 4GB, 16GB DDR3@1866MHz, Windows 7 64-bit

Only problem now seems to be staying connected. Loading times are a bit long as well, though that might just be my HDD.

Apparently the game doesn’t look that much any different on Ultra than it does on Low, anyone can confirm/deny?

I can see a difference, but maybe I’m just so accustomed to PC gaming that I spot the smallest details in a game.

Lighting quality doesn’t change that much apart from shadow resolution and filtering, but everything else there’s a noticeable impact, specially when it comes to textures quality, level of detail and particle effects.

In fact I noticed that with model quality way down, you can see enemies behind disappearing distant objects.

How long does the beta last? I thought it should’ve ended yesterday, but I can still play for some reason.

The beta opened up to everyone yesterday. It will probably run until a few days before the full game releases.

Checked the beta out. Framerate is generally acceptable but getting crazy CPU lag spikes that are very annoying. Nothing seems to fix them.

Well, that’s been the thing lately. From what I can gather, it fucks with how close to the camera stuff stays in full detail more than it lowers- improves everything at once. Like, low object detail makes the LOD transitions happen sooner, but a guy standing in front of you is gonna look the same no matter what it’s set to.

beta runs atrociously, but i do like the new map design and the new movement system feels more responsive and smooth

Battlefield 4 looks just like battlefield 3…'s trailers.

I mean, BF3 had some crazy ass bullshots so the fact that they were able to match that is pretty awesome.

BF4 looks pretty sick when you set resolution scale to 200% and settings on ultra.

I downloaded the beta today and gave it a really quick bash on an empty server.

First impression is that it looks like BF3, but on the CryEngine.

Just because they added sun shafts it now looks like CryEngine? It’s still Frostbite engine.
