Well, as I said, schools are right when they teach students that mankind evovled from apes, because at some point in time, there was this ape-like creature that for some reason split in a few genetic branches, giving us monkeys, great-apes (our close-related cousins) and us.
but why our brain is sooooo damn Unique ? look around you man
Our brain is unique? As said before in this very thread (or was it the Christian thread?), there’s all sorts of animals that use their brain the same way we do. Our close cousins, the Chimpanzees, are very human-like in many aspects, ranging from communication, emotion, determination, insight, planning, inventing, solving.
Crows, crabs, octopuses, insects, bears, cats, dogs, many more all show treats that are humanlike.
Our brain isn’t unique, it merely makes up for our vastly inferior physical features.
pick up a fucking book and learn why :hmph:
You probably typed that thinking it sounded profound and self answering when in reality you sound like a stoner.
The human brain is quite advanced, but to think that it is unique and superior to all is just arrogant.
Something is fishy about these two posts but I can’t put my finger on it…
He’s supporting science but with a religious take on it?
well…that’s pretty much of it, now remember when the Church condemned Issac, Galileo and many others for their amazing discoveries and accused them for blasphemy ? that’s total Bull…, while in the other Islamic science made it’s golden age at the middle age.
And yet you now refute amazing discoveries of great scientists that pretty much give conclusive evidence that apes and humans have a common ancestor.
no bro, I don’t support Darwin’s “Theory” I support many scientific facts, like Gravity, earth being round or more like egg-ish, animals evolving to adapt the surrounding environments, however, the only thing that I believe about the figure of Humans that I believe that humans in ages past look different that us but not to an extent to believe that Humans once walked on all four.
evolution is pretty much a proven fact at this point
ok now lemme explain something:
Regarding your statements whether the Qur’anic account of creation is incompatible with man having evolved; if evolution entails, as Darwin believed, that “probably all the organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from one primordial form, into which life was first breathed” (The Origin of Species, 455), I apprehend that this is incompatible with the Qur’anic account of creation. Our first ancestor was the prophet Adam (upon whom be peace), who was created by Allah in janna, or “paradise” and not on earth, but also created in a particular way that He describes to us:
"And [mention] when your Lord said to the angels, 'Truly, I will create a man from clay. So when I have completed him, and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down prostrate to him.' And the angels prostrated, one and all. Save for Satan, who was too proud to, and disbelieved. He said to him, 'O Satan, what prevented you from prostrating to what I have created with My two hands? Are you arrogant, or too exalted?' He said,'I am better than he; You created me from fire and created him from clay'" (Qur'an 38:71-76).
ok now there is one thing that really bothers me, why do you strictly believe that everything in this universe including it’s amazing galaxies and system and everything else existed by coincidence?!
and you believe some random dude with no origin and had a fully formed personality and compassion for people and relationships that dont yet exist just existed by coincidence?
It isn’t about “Is or isn’t there someone who created us?”. To me, the only things that matters are facts and evidence. And the fact is: evidence has shown us over and over again that all life as we know it today, is the result of millions of years of evolution.
Sure, some deity may have created that one lifeform that was the basis of all life, but there’s an equally big chance that a certain event created life. I frankly don’t care how it started, and I won’t care until either side comes up with conclusive evidence.
Throughout that entire thing, you didn’t answer the question. Why don’t you believe, though having extraordinary evidence for it, that humans have a common ancestor with other animals that you admit that other animals have but humans are somehow unique?
As for your question: it had to happen that way, according to our current understanding of the Big Bang. You’re asking a different question from evolution, though. So, either you want to talk about evolution or you want to talk about the Big Bang. Which did you want to talk about?
both, like maybe it’s time to look beyond the evolution, what caused all of this, if all of this existed by coincidence, what’s the purpose of of it ?
Actually, it’s still called the “Theory of Gravity”, despite being total fact. The reason it’s still a theory is that there is no definitive experimental way to prove beyond ANY doubt its existence.
However, most people have more common sense then that and can say “Well, I know this is only theoretical, but in lack of any better or more logical way to explain this I’d say it’s true for now.”
Science bascially is the constant redefining of what is “fact”. It’s almost like law; until proven wrong a theory is always right.
Not all atheists strictly believe this. The most common variation is that there was one big coincidental event, but everything that happened after that was perfectly logical and ordered.
Besides, it’s all perspective. You think all the amazing galaxies are to wonderful to be anything other than a designed creation? Take another look, galaxies are mostly comprised of balls of burning hydrogen. A giant star cluster filled with different colours may be “beautiful” from a human perspective, but that’s all it is, the viewing of something mundane interpeted by a species.
I’m still waiting on an answer to the question about human evolution. :hmph:
If it’s coincidental why would it have a purpose?
what question man ?
I support science but with a religious take on it…you know
like what’s the point of being Muslim if I don’t believe in a creator ?
maybe I wasn’t clear enough, but that was my point, what’s the purpose of all of this ? to what end it will lead us ?, as corny as it may sound but I need an atheist to answer this.
