“That is what atheist think of every religion”

how would you know what “every atheist thinks”

I Believe KK answered your question Daniel now please check this out since it’s related to the “Mecca discussion”

The concept that a benevolent God who can alter reality itself would be so petty to require a specific earthy locale one must face to pray is really humorous if you think about it.

Shadi: The Earth doesn’t “hang” at all. In fact, it’s “falling”…being pulled by the sun’s gravity. Also, the rest of that video has just as much dubiousness to it…assuming that the subtitler is accurate in conveying what the people there are saying.

Oops sry. I forgot that I shouldn’t generalize atheists.

It’s the same mistake again. It’s a metaphor. The earth actually “hangs”(suns gravity) and “falls/accelerates”(centrifugal force) into two directions. To make it clear: If you hang a sphere with a string onto another fixed rotatable sphere you can see the principle of centrifugal force(spinning of the middle sphere) and gravity (which is illustrated by the string).

Well it’s easier to generalize religions than atheism because atheism is basically the lack of belief in gods.

Doesn’t say anything about if you believe in ghosts, evolution, reincarnation, etc

You just generalized atheism by your own.

That’s not a generalization. That’s the definition. If you answer the question “Do you believe in a deity?” with anything other than “yes”, then you’re an atheist.

Atheists can believe in ghosts, reincarnation, etc. Atheists can even believe in an afterlife.

Also, a religious person can also “believe in” science things like evolution, laws of thermodynamics and the formation of the universe.

Well yeah atheism covers a broad variety of beliefs, meaning you can’t generalize those other beliefs under atheism.

As far as for abrahamic religions, they believe in set things based in their religion and its teachings, so it’s easier to generalize their other beliefs according to their belief in their god.

Actually, atheism doesn’t cover any beliefs. It is simply the lack of belief in a deity. Atheists, however, have a broad variety on beliefs on many subjects.

That’s what I said… lol probably shouldn’t have said covers.

Please don’t start a debate in which the meaning of “to believe” is discussed to shit. It’s a verb take it like this.

You’re just taking our definition of God out of context and replace it with a random thing so it fits with your imagination that god is a product of fantasy and not a logical explainable part of the universe. Than you are claiming that we believe in things like vortigaunts or leprechauns. That’s so short minded and only proves that you change religions in that way you want to understand it so it doesn’t interfer with your thoughts.

Okay, do you know why people such as myself bring up “vortigaunts” or “leprechauns”? We’re trying to ask how the deity is any different from these clearly fictional things when none of them have any evidence for them, not because we’re trying to “change religion”. We’re trying to figure out how you know that the deity isn’t a “product of fantasy”. There could be an all-seeing vortigaunt that created the creator of the universe. Do you know?

It’s not an attempt to denigrate a religion. It’s an attempt to figure out how they’re different. And attacking those that question it won’t stop these allusions; it won’t contribute to the furthering of the discussion either.

So, please, explain how a deity is NOT a product of fantasy in your mind. Can you please show how?

For one thing you can’t make claims about something that there is no evidence for, so saying god is a logical explainable part of the universe is untrue. Where vortigaunts and leprechauns came in I don’t know, I only said that people that believe in their religions follow the beliefs system set out by those said religions, like christians believe in jesus, follow 10 commandments, know how much to pay for slaves and when it’s ok to rape and kill etc

There is a logical theory and I will answer why the god I believe in isn’t a product of fantasy. But not now.

HOW EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE. THANK YOU SO MUCH, KK.

i’m gonna go ahead and explain for him: that’s what he was born into. case closed.

when you’ve heard a singular line of reasoning your entire life, whilst hearing all attempts at undermining that line of reasoning quashed via incorrect or misinterpreted information, or rejected as immoral, or ignored as simply incorrect or invalid, your mind begins to build itself around that reasoning. attempting to dismantle that causes mental dissonance and the mind enacts a coping mechanism to erase that doubt. questioning something that is not to be questioned does this. the only way to stop believing in something like god is to either a. go through some sort of traumatic event in which your brain copes by destroying the idea of god, or b. search for a measurable truth behind all things, which will, undoubtedly, lead you in an atheistic direction.

all of the abrahamic religions do this. i’ve gotten into some pretty vicious arguments with all three of the big ones. all of their science comes not from scientists or people who even understand the scientific method, but from a sort of new age pseudo-magic. their science really does remind me of sci-fi explanations. that sort of “well it makes sense if you don’t know anything about this”.

Indeed. If you want to instead of posting a bunch of articles that half assedly go back and look through the holy books looking for science, and learn something, watch this video on the history of the abrahamic religions.

^this

like i said. they find things that back up their beliefs, and ignore things that don’t, rather than basing their beliefs on the things that they learn. i don’t understand how so many people on the planet can do this and sleep soundly at night.

Wait, so why did you even respond if you aren’t going to answer the question? Why not just wait until you are ready (not sure why you’re not ready NOW)?

He’s done the same thing before, about the reason why he thinks homosexuality is wrong. And then he didn’t post anything at all, ever.
So don’t hold your breath.
