Ask A Bodybuilder

I never said he wanted to get big. I never once implied that. Are you telling me that if you simply eat food you will suddenly become 250 pounds of solid muscle?

Implies that you are basically telling him that if he wants to lose weight, he needs to not eat.

And this just adds to it.

And now you’re basically asking him to stress his cardiovascular system without feeding it anything.

Regardless of what your intentions may have been, you didn’t come off in a correct or intelligent manner at all. Bottom line is you basically told him to go out and do cardio and eat celery. It’s perfectly achievable to lose weight without doing any form of exercise to a certain extent, just a lot slower and less rewarding in the end.

His question isn’t off topic at all, this is “Ask a Bodybuilder”, not “Aspire to become a bodybuilder or get out”. It’s perfectly relevant to the thread.

or GTFO!

I weigh 323 pounds, and I’m working on losing alot of it.

You’re probably wondering how I got this fat. Well, I spend about 22 hours a day on my computer eating hot dogs and chicken nuggets non-stop, while trolling forums. And I regret this quite alot because lately I’ve been trying to go running but when ever I try to move my legs it hurts and it feels like my bones are being crushed. And as for upper body strength I can’t do push ups, chin ups, pull ups, or situp. But whats even worse is that I have trouble lefting stuff that is around 40-70 pounds.

I have intense backpain (which is probably from sitting in a chair all day) has made it harder for me to do anything.

I assume all of this has happend because I haven’t been very active in the past 10 years.

Probably best weight loss advice I could find

I suggest you start out doing something simple like walking a couple of kilometers every day, before you start running. And eat less; start by cutting the snacks.

I can’t, it’s so hard. I’m eating doritos as I type this. :[

Would a tuna sub with all salads from subway be considered as a good protein source?

YOU NEVER REALLY “LOSE” FAT.
DECREASING THE SIZE OF YOUR FAT CELLS IS THE ONLY THING YO DO. PERIOD.

I guess we can’t help you then.

Are you looking for a miracle?

Nobody can change you, but you. Either show yourself and everyone else that you have a set of balls, man up, and make a change, or just die at an embarrassingly early age of coronary heart disease. Your call.

Well, if he hates life, guess what choice he´ll make…

But anyways, what´s the best way to lose a few pounds? Besides walking I mean.

Compound excercises :expressionless:

This is completely relevant and you should feel good about yourself.

:expressionless: It was a joke.

I once lost 23kg (over 5-6 months) by doing nothing but drink 2l water a day, eat about 400g of vegetables and 300g of fruit a day, and cut back on sugary stuff. I didn’t exercise at all.

Last year (after I pretty much regained the weight I lost), I started exercising by running/jogging for half an hour every 2 days. I lost 8kg in 4-5 weeks.

Right now I’m back to where I was before (damn you genes, it’s not like I even eat that much or that unhealthy) and should really start with that diet again, but also exercise in between. I still feel healthy and I can still go for long walks or even runs without feeling like I’m about to get a stroke or being out of breath every 20 steps, but it’s other things that bother me (like clothes starting to get tight (I hate tight clothes >_>).

Right now I have a BMI of 28, so apparently I’m overweight, but still “healthy”.

Rice, (baked) beans and water.

'nuff said.

Don’t sumo wrestlers have the same diet, but then all day long? @Jeannot’s diet I mean.

Fruit is sugary stuff, my dear.

BMI is to fitness as the Windows Vista Experience Index is to hardcore computing. It’s useful for people who are completely clueless and need an extremely obvious, and extremely vague indicator of what’s wrong, but it’s not accurate.

By the standards of any BMI calculator I am pretty badly ‘overweight’.

I know, and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you the difference between the sugars in fruit and sugar glucose.

It’s not like I use the BMI to figure out I’m somewhat overweight, I know I am because I have eyes in my head. And whilst I’m built quite sturdy by default (damn you genes), the extra kilos need to go, purely for vanity’s sake.

I merely mentioned it because I’m not absurdly muscular. I’m just a normal every day male that doesn’t do any specific fitness or strength workouts. I just live a normal life, so I guess that the BMI applies to me more than it applies to you.
