I agree, never said they were stupid.
sexism doesnt have to be intentional to be sexism
read my previous post
Have you considered that an abortion is less painful than both?
Are you a foster child? Have you lived under CPS? Watch this and educate yourself:
https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/fostercare/symposium/
You are entitled to your opinion
read the part about birthrate and unadopted kids
How old are you? I’m mean, I’m not trying to be crass but seriously, do you know ANYTHING about sexual intercourse and the reasons WHY people engage in it?
If you really think that everyone can be 100% abstinent or that they’ll use methods of birth control (which aren’t necessarily 100% effective and in such cases abortion should still be legal) until they’re ready to have a kid, I have a bridge to sell you.
I think you might have missed a HUGE issue in American politics/society - sex education in schools. Many Red State School districts either do not offer sex education or teach Abstinence-Only Sex Ed. In Abstinence-Only Sex Ed, peripheral issues are not discussed at all. The idea there is that teaching kids about birth control will encourage sex. Sex Ed for these kids is what they learn from other kids - rumor, gossip, and myth - like the idea that pulling out is an effective method of birth control, washing your dick after sex prevents STDs, and that AIDS is a ‘Gay Disease’ that only effects men who have anal sex with other men.
There’s a popular TV show in the US called “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” for fuck sake.
So you think banning abortions will help with the problem of overpopulation?
Right - and BTW - our government doesn’t own or fund Urgent Care Centers, so they don’t have anything to do with handing out condoms.
Holy Jesus can you imagine how the Right Wing would react if the Federal Government started giving away condoms?
I’m sexist because I think that men do have the right to an opinion on abortion?
You can have an opinion but the decision is 100% the woman’s. She make seek your input and that can guide her decision, of course, but the decision is hers.
Until men can have babies, of course…
I think women should respect man’s choice in that matter, but only if
-
the man took some contraceptive precautions or aided the girl at taking them and discussed the topic
-
man proved his own maturity by signalling that he wants to take care of the baby.
That way man shows he cares for the female body and about her well-being(that he REALLY cares, not like in “ooh, you look really hot”) andto make sure the following situations can not occur (which effectively put women into slavery):
-
“I do not use condoms, it is your body, you have to take care of contraception, BUT GOD DAMN DO NOT ABORT THE BABY (in her body) OR I’LL KILL YOU”
-
“I don’t want this child, I never did, BUT GOD DAMN YOU ARE NOT ABORTING IT BECAUSE IT IS X”
(X := a sin, bad, “immoral”, “MY CHILD ANYWAY”, dominance in general)
Ultimately the woman WILL always decides what she will do with her child, but you can improve your chances at influencing her decision. But to always have the final say is not necessarily an advantage for a woman. SHE will be stuck with the child, or she will live the rest of her life a little bit sadder, while you can run off. The downside of maternity.
Edit: OMG daniel, we should create something like a philosophy community.
you’re sexist because you think you have a relevant opinion that should influence any laws.
hahahah
ha
no.
if you try to sway a womans decision, you are a bad person. a mans opinion should have noooo say in what a woman decides to do with her own body
Did he ever say he wants to change the law? Because I don’t remember him saying anything like that.
Giving your opinion is different from forcing a girl to have the baby (using guilt, belief or whatever) or actually having power of decision in the matter.
It looks like you are letting this to get personal. This is not serious, we are just tossing ideas, don’t get angry.
You’ll find that if he sways the woman’s decision he has every right to, as it is her decision. Thus the reason men can at least discuss abortion with women.
It is my opinion that women should be allowed to have an abortion if they wish to. I also think that as a citizen of my country, I should have a say on whether or not abortion is illegal (it is, here). I do not think that another person should be able to force a woman to have an abortion, but I don’t think it matters in that case whether the other person is a man or a woman. If you think that’s sexist, think away, but I really, really can’t see how it is.
no, you shouldn’t. if you’re never put in the position where you would need to have an abortion, you don’t have a relevant opinion on whether or not it should be legal.
You’re not a soldier, you have no opinion on war.
Fancy Pant: Extremist feminist since 1990-something.
except that’s not even the same thing at all considering when we’re discussing abortion it’s my personal rights that you’re arguing over.
Have you had an abortion?
no, but i may need to some day, and i’d like that option to be there and not be made illegal because some men who could never get pregnant decided that a woman shouldn’t be able to have control over her body or have reproductive rights.
and why does it matter if i PERSONALLY have had an abortion? it’s not a personal issue, it’s not something i’m worried about for myself. every woman should have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, no matter what.
you know what happens when abortion isn’t an option for women? this happens. you’re sacrificing a living, breathing, thinking woman for an unthinking fetus.
